Slick 60's

Where can I get a 2bbl carb setup for the 223 6 cyl. I have a 1964 f100 stepside. Want to try and find a 2bbl carb and new upgraded manifold.......

If you all have done this or can help me find some places that sell this, please let me know.......My carb is pretty much toast, so figured why not go ahead and upgrade.

ok....I have found a 1bbl to a 2bbl adapter, are there any recommendations on carbs themselves......is there a particular carb I should be looking for or can I just go on Holley or Weber, etc.....and find a generic carb?

I used a trans dapt 2025 with a holley 94 2bbl. The holley will have the spark valve if you are running one for an early y block.

What is the advantage of a 2bbl carb on an adapter?

carbs are not cheap anymore
might be able to find a deal on the clifford stuff, i did both times i used them
much improvement with a holley 2v on both the 223 and 300
one of the easier mods you can to to a 6 to help it out

as for the adapter i think you will gain some but not as much as with the clifford or offenhauser intake flow.
i liked the sound of the 6 with the headers too

I am currently doing this on my sons 223 some issues with carb which one did you use? and what mufflers?
I agree on deals being out there but headers are harder to find.

had a holley first then switched to the autolite both were slick vintage carbs, i still have the holley, soon as i ever get time im going to get a kit and put that back on my 292 as the current c3te autolite has a few issues

had oval glasspacks on the wifes 66, should have put them back further as was a bit loud under the cab with turnouts in front of the rear tires

the first clifford i got intake and headers from a good friend for a c-note , not a deal to be found like that very often.

the other one i bought from a member, ended up selling it to another, not sure who has that now but i think i paid $175 for that intake

Warning......

The 223 was equipped with a Loadamatic distributor and carburetor. The Loadamatic dizzy was 100% vacuum advance requiring the matching 1bbl carburetor to work the vacuum advance. These components work together. Changing out the carburetor means changing the distributor to a conventional mechanical/vacuum type as well. A Petronics electronic conversion makes no difference as the advance has nothing to due with the type of ignition.

It might even run OK with just a carb change but it will never run right unless you change the dizzy as well.
