Y-Block Nationals (Shootout) and Ford Expo.

For those of you running Y-blocks, we have a Y-block shootout at the NMRA Ford Expo at National Trail Raceway near Columbus, OH on Labor Day Weekend.
Most of us participate in the bracket racing but there is a car show, swap meet, and all Y-block powered vehicles are welcome to our pits so we can make our presence eminent. The only requirement for participating in the Y-block shootout is that the vehicle be powered by a Y-block - If you have a lawn mower with a 312 and can get it to pass tech, bring it.
There are not usually many trucks. I think 4 or 5 came last year. Mine hasn't made it yet. There has been about 30 participants total, each of the past couple years, from as far away as Australia.
Here is a link to pics of last year's event. http://www.y-blocksforever.com/EXPO08/

Racing or not, it is a lot of fun. It is neat when, among a myriad of mustangs and newer fords, you come across a section with primarily 50s and 60s cars and trucks.
Let's see if we can increase the truck presence!
And, of course, it is a Ford event so it is an excellent opportunity to get a bunch of slicks together, Y-block or not.

Will do. I just added a link to the NMRA site. They don't have the schedule figured out yet. But this should give people plenty of time to think about it.

About 2 1/2 months left. Time to make reservations if you're going.
The NMRA website is updated.

That's what I'm talking about! And if the aluminum heads are ready in time, more of them will be pulling the front wheels of of the ground!

I realize I put a lot of focus on the Y-block part but it is an all ford event. They have a car show. You just need seat belts and a coolant catch can at the minimum to participate in the bracket racing. 13.99 and faster need more but I'm sure, if you know your truck is faster than that, you already know the rules. You don't have to risk tearing up your truck to bracket race - it's about consistency, not the fastest et. If you're able to make it, you should go.

Well,
I'm driving up tomorrow morning. If anyone decides to go, look in the pits for a section with 50s and 60s ford cars and trucks, most of which will have Y-blocks. That is where I will be. Oh, actually, I might be taking pictures at the starting line and elsewhere. That is one of my "jobs." So if I'm not in the pits, I'm taking pictures.
