Does anyone know where i can find a decoder to see what type of tranny ive got?I was gonna put a 5 speed behind my 351 but ive got this one and if it works ill just use it.i think it accepts two different bolt patterns and ive got these casting numbers c8ar 7008-C

i believe ive found out its a toploader 3 speed.anyone know if 4 speed bellhousing will interchange with the 3 speed.sounds like it will work with the 351w i was gonna put it on ebay if it didnt

no its not a 4 speed its a 3 speed toploader has 9 bolts instead of the i think 10 for 4 but im trying to figure out if what kind of bellhousing i can use

That number can't ID a trans beyond the fact that it is a 68 and newer trans. The number you posted is just the cating number for the case and has nothing to do with what it actually was machined for. On the side of the trans case is small metal tag held on with a rivet. The numbers off of that will ID the trans. The dual bolt pattern cases will bolt to almost any Ford bellhousing if you use the right front bearing support (there are two different sizes). Hawkrod
