engine block ID # location?

Is there a standard place to look on Ford Engines for ID#?
Would 289/302/and 352 VINs all be located in same spot?
Where?

If I remember right they are on the pasenger side on the slanted part of the block.

Don't have my 302 anymore tho.

Most of them I've seen are on the right side where the starter mounts. If the starter is there, you have to pull it to see the number.
