well my 66s 292 was starting to run like a turd.actually it was running ok at 60 but dying at idle and deceleration.the usual sign that the points needed adjustment.(too close of gap)being they only had a few mile on them and of course they were the store brand you get when you buy points without specifying what you really should have.anyway they were burning up and had some nice little pits.
i called up my auto parts guy and told him i was tired of this imported junk, no offense as he gets what they supply but could he order me a cap, rotor, condenser and points, from Standard Blue streak ignition.made in USA.he said yes but the points alone were near $20.i told him i did not care, you get what you pay for.i have always had excellent service from Standard Ignition products, as long as they were made in USA.(got a bad set several years ago, contacts fell off after 5 miles. "hecho en Mexico".i returned them to the store, you could see the difference between those and the USA ones several feet apart on the counter).i got them today, read all the 4 boxes in the store sure enough, made in USA.
bet they last me a couple years.sure can tell the difference just looking at them.cap feels like it weighs double the cheap store brand.
btw there is a difference between Standard regular and Standard Blue Streak.you can see it right off.bet the old girl will be happy too.

Of course, a Pertronix will also solve that problem...permanently.

I also agree that Made in USA is better. almost everything I have ever bought that wasnt made here or Canada is junk. Never buy disk brake rotors from Autozone! Those duralast ones are junk made in china and start warping after 4000 miles. They obviously are not using good cast iron in there rotors. They probably have some sort of high alloy tool steel or something mixed in.. This is on my 2002 F150 and I baby that truck, easy on the brakes(its also a manual) and 85% of the driving I do with that truck is done on the expressway at night and ealry morning with no traffic. Ive never had an experience like this before with brakes, but then Ive never bought autozone before either. My uncle has autozone rotors on his car and has been noticing the same thing to.

Im so sick of all this foreign garbage..Bad for America..We get cheap junk and lost jobs!

Before I went to pertronix on my 64 I had mexican points and condenser and they wouldnt last that long either..

On BIG SLICK had to take the Pertronix out cause just could not run right, empty it was fine but when I hooked a trailer to it spit, sputereted, coughed, temp. went up, got under the cap to be sure it was still adjusted right go a few miles do it agin, Finally took it out put the Motorcraft Cap, Rotor, Points, Condensor back on no promblems & put on about 5000 miles on or more with not even loking at the points, now my wrecker has the Pertronix & is fine every once awhile it acts up under a haavy load but not like my BIG SLICK did...

wifes truck has pertronix.points, condensor and rotor live in glovebox in ziploc bag just in case.i dont trust that electronics @ -40.truthfully i dont trust it below 0.no place close to buy a pertronix either.out here i prefer to stick with old reliable things that are easy to come by.
