well after attending the most recent ss in KC, i would have to say when someone from there can commit to all of the work involved in preparing for and promoting it.
not an easy task. ask the previous hosts.

all 3 have been outstanding events.

We have a joke at my house.
North Dakota doesn't really exist. We say this because we've a) never met someone from there, b) nothing ever seems to happen there that makes the news and c) I've never seen a North Dakota license plate on a vehicle.

Oh, it exists alright. I was once making the trek from Fargo to Bismarck along the lonliest stretch of highway I have ever been on, the I 94, when the motorhome was rocking and shaking like an SOB.

I looked in the rear view mirror to see a funnel cloud touching down on the highway about 1-2 miles behind us. Fun times.

But, Bismarck is a heck of a lot closer to the geographical centre of North America in Rugby ND than anywhere else we have ever had a SS. Just don't expect any Texans there.

6 years at Minot AFB North Dakota and if you watch the weather it is mentioned quite often! Coldest place in the US!

I saw 95 deg below and 105 deg above!

Have Fun!

We PA guys can't drive out of state. We are all Amish, you know.
Hey, I drove my truck to the first SS and plan to be there in 2010 provided I don't lose any more jobs to downsizing or mergers. People think I'm nuts, but I think Iowa is a beautiful state and I look forward to going back. Not sure about N Dakota since there is no photographic evidence of it's existence. I still think it's just a big chasm between SD and those nutty Canadians.

Yeah there are a few of us who would like the SS date moved back up to Labour day weekend again. That discussion hasn't come up yet but it will LOL

Hey I would be all for a ND SS, heck of a lot closer for me. Lyman is right, he will be there. Aside from Doug, it's the west coast guys who's back I should get on,, them suckers hardly ever show either. Doug and Vinnie= the only ones I can name at any SS.

JC, Labor Day weekend is not out of the question yet. We are going to have scheduling difficulties with the Iowa State Fair( had a suggestion to do SS during the Fair for something to do ) and the Nascar Race here in Newton Iowa starting next Year.We dont want to do it during something going on as the Hotel rates will be higher and harder to find. I want to keep it in the early part of Aug but need to see which weekend the race will be in 2010. hope to see a bunch of you guys here then..............Kid

Craig,

Your memory has not totally failed. I met you at SS. Then went on up to Ft. Yates, N.D. (my Birthplace) and met up with Jeff. I grew up in Lemmon,S.D.(half of the town is in each of the Dakota's).

Those air horns are reserved for the occasional numbskull that are encountered now and then. I think that they have been the cause of a few skivvie changes, but they do wake up and pay attention.
