The place to talk Slicks. All we ask is that discussion has something to do with slicks...

Side Emblem Mod

Post by ABA »

The side emblems on my '65 are in decent shape chrome wise but the plastic inserts are gone on one side and very cloudy on the other.
I was thinking about making my own custom inserts, something with a Conferate theme.
Anybody else tried to mod thiers?

Still working on this for Joshua's 64, but you can get the idea. Once I get the Paint Shop Pro version like I want it, I'm taking a copy over to the printer and get some reverse templates made to do the painting.

I bought a set for my truck, but the body shop guy was able to polish mine up and repaint the red from behind. If you want a new set (orginal Dennis Carpenter) contact me off forum and we can arrive at a price under what you would have to pay for sure......

Original is cool but I got a feeling my truck will end up being a RatRod so I got to add my own personal touches and do it on a very low budget.
Something like these maybe. 8)

Ha!

I swear I have seen something like the stars-n-bars deal before.

With a good set of plastics (not cracked or deformed) you could do some vinyl die cut or inkjetted overlays pretty easy and change the at will or as tastes change.

And if you were really creative you could cast your own acrylic inserts and do silly stuff like this.

Im a fan of deleting them, but I also like the one ton fenders and they look better without them.

How about something like those belt buckles the kids wear where you can program a message that scolls across it.
Would be kinda hard to read as fast as I drive though.
