So my son (14) is at his moms house for the night. So he calls me (thank god for free alltell to alltell minutes) And starts on how he wants a hot rod to drag race. Mind you I just bought him 2 International Scouts. So it went like this......
Dad I just found a 53 Customline! I really want it dad! I want to make it my drag car!

STOP! HOLD THE PHONE! You found one of my all time favorite cars? and you want to what with it?

Drag race it! yanoooooooo?

So I say Son we have a slick, race that! I am not buying anymore!

But dad why on earth would I want to tear up a slick drag racing it?

Ok buy now I'm speechless......

So I tell him hey if you want something different sell your scouts!

Sell my scouts? why?

 How about this kid..... We build one at a time? and not buy another until that one is finished.....

Long story short. We have 6 trucks and 1 car now and no place to park. So tonight I decided to start selling everything off except for my Slick! This does not make the kid happy at all. I try to add it up for him. $800 he wants to spend on the 53 will do wonders for his good scout! Then he has half a chance of selling this rust free gem and making a lil something to make the work worth the while. Then he can buy something else that he likes. I finally realized that the more I have the less time/money I have to build the things I want to build the most ( my slick at the top of the list ) So 3.5 hours later and 4 calls I sit here wondering why he even went to his moms house to begin with...... Then he gets into it with his mom because it's bed time and he's been on the phone all night. I'm at fault again just ask her lol. Where do I go now? lol

Man I hear ya on the mutable projects. Years ago when we decided to move from CA to TN I had 21 different projects. Cars, trucks, boats, motorcycles etc all junk for the most part and I never got anything finished because I was always buying a new project.
Changed the rules after I had to get rid of all that stuff. Now I try to keep in to no more than a couple of projects at a time  and I try to not drag in to many future ones.

Got to admit though wish I still had about half of the things we had back then but I guess they cant all be keepers.

I'm finally focused on my slick! I don't want anything getting in the way lol And my son is getting just as bad as I was! I can't let that happen.... I sold both buildings and can only get one project in my garage now...... Pick one and sacrifice the rest for the good of the one.... My son wants it all..... I know where he gets that.... but if we only have one at a time like we did before we could pump out a show winner a year! I know we can..... When I was a whole lot younger I'd put a show winner together in 3 months. then after the first kids it was like 6 months to a year..... now 3 kids later and poof I have help again lol..... at 14 the lil guy should have 2 yes two finished projects before he can drive! Not 10 unfinished projects going to pot from lack of money due to buying everything in site!

so i am guessin gyour divorced and the son lives at his moms. this could be a attention thing with him. maybe. one way to apporach it would be to have him find out mor about the car and so forth. where it is how much is it running. the next step would be to take your son to the car and look it over and pick it apart. this is wrong thats wrong the car is junk or whatever. try and convince your son its not the car he wants or can use.

So my son (14) is at his moms house for the night.

No he lives with me..... We had 2 shops 7000 sqft and 20,000 sq ft so we had lots of toys all the time..... But never seemed to have time to play with them..... Dad got tired and sold almost everything.... The kid is just used to having it all....
