OK we have started to make our Road trip plans, as usual we will be starting from Plano TX ( nice motel with a Red hot and Blues right next door

)
from there we will head northwest along 287 to Amarillo, then on 87 to Raton on 24 to Limon, from there east to Salina on 70. If we go past you, wave and say G`day Mate!
more to come

Taking Ezer's suggestion, I see! That route's a possibility for me as well. I need to hit Colorado Springs, Canon City, and Cripple Creek; take care of all my sight "C"ing! I just don't know about that drive from Wichita Falls to the Big Texan!
Ah, well, as long as we all end up in Salina!

When are you thinking of going through there Paulo?, Big Texan looks like a must see, I don`t recall it when we went through Amarillo in 08. We were back tracking old Fred's "Scenic Route", back to Phoenix AZ, still got his map with route marked out

hard to believe it`s 8 years later !

I haven't mapped mine out yet....
But with today's technology, it shouldn't be too hard

YEP!, like you could go via West Magnolia Road, if you wanted to get there quick...
or East Magnolia Road to drag it out a bit and savour the trip, or even a start out in the wrong direction
with a little freeway driving just to mix it up some along I-135s taking KS-4E and blow some smoke out..
just plug the darn seatbelt in will yah!

Kinda depends on whether I'm towing or just going, Alan. Ideally, I would start the week before Slickstock week; but still too early for me to decide. Big Texan, Cadillac Ranch; them Panhandlers be strange even by Texas standards!
Pat, just try to not let TR plan your route, LOL. Gotta admit, it was an adventure, probably aged Steve's truck considerably!

I don't get up that way much anymore, but when younger and hungrier it was a great stop, especially with Don Hardy Race Cars not to far away!
They finally started enforcing immigration down here, wouldn't let them Coon-sses in! Didn't last long, them casino operators were howling! Suggested detour was Houston to Shreveport to Lake Charles, just a slight inconvenience!

looks like Plano is out for the start of our trip, wrong direction by a long shot the cook said.
On a positive note tho, we paid for the air fare and booked the wheels for our drive around, Ford Explorer at this stage
Looks like we are going to visit Cripple Creek on the way up. Paulo, Lyn is going to PM you on FB to get the low down of that area, it better be good is all I can say !
so in just over 4 short months, we'll be winging our way back to our FFFarrrr East home

can't wait!

Can't blame her, didn't take me long to tire of Plano(ld) Texas, either! I started to suggest other options, but I know how atached you've become to your de-planing ritual! Just remember a bunch of us already a familiar with the terrain to the immediate west, and can help with up to date survival skills such as breakfasts, chicken, ribeyes, and lodging! Heck, just turn up the schedule a bit and join us in Roanoke the end of next month. You'd just have to limit your exposure in Cripple Creek; those ol' gold miners will get you after a while. I'll be looking for Lyn's post. Too early for Bon Voyage!???

P.S., I've got to practice my "legal alien"! I ask for an Exploder, I get a Chebbie "Cruz" !
