Arrived today. 1961 Uni. So happy to once again be a proud owner of a Slick. Trucks a little weather beaten, but does run and drive. Thrilled to get to work! Pictures below, hope they turn out right.

Truck has new headers. Seats in terrible shape. Engine turned over but I think the battery is weak. Hoping to maybe find some things for it a Pate. Any advice let me know. Not looking to make it prestige, but a good looking driver.

Sweet truck. Plans?

If it were me...I wouldn't paint it. Make it reliable and have fun!

Got to love those 61 unibodies with y blocks. Just starting to button up one of my builds... If you have any questions let me know . It is well worth running down a decent T-5 to put behind that y, unless you have need of the stump puller first gear. Are you still looking for a shifter knob?

As of now I don't plan to paint. I'd like to patch up the bed and clean up the interior. I want to make it a good looking truco while enjoying it as well. I did find a shift knob. What is used to fix the surface rust in the interior? Places like the dash and glove box lid. I would like to get a better seat or restore mine. Need to finish the exhaust. Headers are in there but thats it. Will need to figure out a dual exhaust design. Wont make this slick stock but hopefully the next. Also put disk brakes on the front. Hope to get some ideas from some members at Pate. Open to any suggestions but I dont't want to do a complete restore. At least not now.

Nice looking project. Glad you have one to play with. It's obvious you are overjoyed about being a SLICK owner once again. Love to see that excitement. :D

I agree with BH. Im planning on making this a fun driver. Not so much daily, but fun. I have considered moving the gas tank to the back but not sure how that works with a Uni. Hard t work here in the winter so the first thing I'll probably start with is dressing up the interior. What do you guys use to remove the surface rust and repaint from places like the glove box lid and dash? I'm not much of a body man but willing to learn.

Also, will a bench seat from the 70s bolt into these trucks? Got a lot of good looking 70s bench seat around me.

Yes Matt the 70s seats fit the slick cabs. Find a good one and bolt her in.
Looks like a nice chrome grill in it too Matt. That should shine up fine.
Looks like a long bed. Check under the bottom between the cab and bed for the
torque box that holds them together. That is a strong rear bumper on the back
which would clean up good if you pulled it off and blasted it. Front bumper in the bed?
Looks like a good truck and should be a great project. TR

Nice looking truck! As for installing a 70"s seat in there, it will bolt in but the sides will rub the doors. Have you tried your new tailgate on it yet? Remember it you need any parts, text me. Yea I'm the one that sold it to you. Thanks for turning me on to this site!

Shouldn't be a problem with F-series seats all the way to late '90's. The armrest WILL get in the way if folding the seat forward; and you need to use original tracks. Hope to see you at Pate; let me know if there are particular items needed.

Thanks guys. Will definitely be at Pate Toyz, and will not leave until I've met as many members as I can. KoolKatt, love the tailgate but I haven't put it on yet. Will look for a seat at Pate, if no luck I am considering tackling a seat reupholster myself as I have been studying it. Trying to figure out where to start as I want to get it road worthy. Fires right up but not ready for the road. So far the priority list is as follows:

1. Needs new tires and rims as the ones on there now are all different sizes. Found a great set of Cragers 15x8. My question is if I get new rims now to put over drum brakes will the rims still be good if I switch to disks?
2. Exhaust from headers back, headers are brand new
3. Will need a clutch soon
4. New windshield
5. Dress up interior

This is just a starter list. Any advice is always appreciated. Thanks for the compliments.
