Hey all,
I'd like to get rid of the slop in my driver's side door hinges. I've read through quite a few of the archived posts about door hinge pin replacements, but I just want to confirm my understanding.
I believe the old pins can be pressed (or punched) out from the bottom and that the reinforcing "washers" are tacked onto the hinges and should stay there unless they break off during pin extraction. Is it necessary to drill out the pin holes and install shims? I've read some people doing that and others just installing new pins. Does anyone have the size of the door pins? I'm wondering if a suitable replacement option can be found at a local parts store versus having to order from one of the online parts sources for our trucks (this usually turns out to be quite expensive for me being up in Canada)?
Cheers,
Dion

Dion: I have never done a set of Slick door hinges, but back in my bodyshop days did TONS of 73-87 style Chev truck hinges, and also plenty of S-15's, Firebirds, Camaros, etc. I will have to have a closer look at my M-350 hinges next time I'm out there, but most local autobody jobbers will have a selection of various diameters (and lengths) of pins, as well as bushings.
BUT, I'm guessing the slick hinges may not have used any bushings? (I'm sure someone will be along shortly to confirm/deny that statement:)
