C-4 Band adjustment

Guys: I am working on my Dad's 65 Mustang so my Mom can sell it.
It has a 170 six cylinder and a C-4 transmission.
I have never owned anything with an automatic transmission.
The transmission pulls to hard at idle.
You have to hold the brakes firmly at a stop sign or red light to keep it from moving forward.
Is this a band adjustment issue?
Fluid is not burned and looks clean.
I replaced the vacuum modulator line as it was leaking.

Sounds more like idle speed is set to high.

Does the transmisson slip? If not then the bands are fine.

Idle speed is set to spec 485-500
It's not possible for bands to be to tight?
I appreciate your input as I know nothing about automatic transmissions.

sounds like the torque converter, which works just like a clutch. No adjustment is possible. It could possibly be in the valve body which directs the fluid to the proper places. You might try dropping the pan and then the valve body and doing a thoro cleaning and make sure the valves move freely. Its not a big job----just pay attention (springs , little balls ,etc)

I'd find a real transmission guy. By that I mean the guy who knows the old stuff and how it was meant to work. I agree to me it seems like a torque converter issue. Sounds like you have a 500 rpm stall speed, which is too low.
