Power steering questions AGAIN! Lol

Ok I have a 89 Toyota power assist steering box ( I have a brother who is a Toyota landcruiser nut FJ-40's are his thing) and I was wondering if anybody has used an electric power steering pump, for such a modification? I think most cars that use such pumps are smaller, so would weight be an issue? What about a heat? Just curious, I can get these from the local pick and pull pretty cheap, and it would saved time and money vs. finding the right pulley and brackets for my y block. Not real concerned about keeping the vintage/stock look, just trying to keep what's left of my shoulders intact( have had both shoulders worked on due to torn rotators). Any way this is just me thinking after 3 beers...lol

First let me ask if your steering has been well maintained? Do up you jack up your front axle when you greaze your king pins? Are your front end parts in good condition, especially king pins? The steering box is the weak link on these trucks. Weak poor design in my opinion. Several options on brackets for the yblock. You can buy an original style kit for these trucks, roughly 900$, brackets should be available. You could check bwith John Mummert for brackets, and or electic pump usage. Have not heard of one used before. What vehicles use these?

Yhea everything up front is in real good shape, it's just with my shoulders being the way they are and as much as I love the truck it can be a real chore sometimes, plu my daughter is showing an intrest in driving and figure I might make it a bit more user friendly, just a thought. Over all it's not bad, just in tight spots, plus with the manual brakes( which I plan on upgrading as well, keeping the drums just want to add a power booster to them) and the 3 on the tree it's a lot of muscle to drive it. I think some foreign cars run the power steering electric pumps and I think even some year Taurus . Like I said it was just a thought, and was wondering what others thought or if they have done it.
