Looking for paint

Is there any source anymore that sells over-the-counter correct paint for our trucks in spray cans? They used to sell it at auto parts stores like 10 or 15 years ago. Was it DuPont that made it? Need some Wimbleton and some Rangoon for painting trim. Can substitute the red okay if needed, but most whites are looking too bright for wimbleton, which is more of an off-white...?

Wimbledon White is available as a Duplicolor spray can. Can't say about the others.

O'reillys Auto Parts Sells A Few Duplicolor Ford Colors Pre-Mixed. The Wimbleton White In The 8-oz Can Sells For $6.99. They Can Mix The Rangoon Red And Make You An 8-oz Spray Can For $21.99.. I Used Ford Cardinal Red For My Steering Wheel Instead Because It Was A Pre-Mix For $6.99. I Don't Really Understand Exactly Why Rangoon Red Wouldn't Be Offered As A Pre-Mixed Color? But That's A Big Difference In Price!

Seems to be.
I don't know for a fact if the PO repaint is Rangoon red, but the Cardinal Red is an excellent match for mine.

Yeah, "Whimbledon White" Cardinal Red Is Slightly Different. They Have A Book That Has The Color Samples. It Was A Matter Of Price For Me, As My Steering Column & Wheel Were So Faded Anyway....

If you'll go to any good automotive paint store, they can custom mix and make rattle cans for you. In fact, the store I use sells surplus custom industrial mixes for about a buck a can in all kinds of different colors. (Johnson on College Ave.)
I don't know what they'd charge and how much you'd have to buy, and it might be a little more expensive than buying a regular quart of paint and catalyst, but then you don't need to have a compressor, paint gun, or all that cleanup thinner and rags, not to mention the waste of un-used paint, but I think it'd be worth asking about as an option.
Also, I would think that this would be better for the interior than the exterior because of having to add a catalyst.
Just a thought.

Very cool... I found the paint at O'reily's last night. Good to know about the custom mixes tho; it's be cool to have a rattle can of Caribbean turquoise for odds and ends.

I bought 3 cans of "Marlin Blue" from these guys. matched really good. They have almost every color you would need but they are $20 per 12oz can so plan ahead.

I painted the interior of my 65 (pre falling tree) and it came out ok. prep is the key. I think BigMike used the same cans to do the interior of his 66. you could PM him to ask how it came out for him.

Someone started rattle-canning the cab in my truck too... no prep, no masking or taping. Lots of overspray. Just started blasting away I guess. At least it's all in white...

I need Glacier Blue on my truck. I am getting ready to shoot dash on mine so will have to check on getting it mixed I guess?

An old thread but since Im looking for touchup paint I thought I would throw in my 02.

You can make shade adjustments by varying the color of the primer, or by using a lighter or darker shade as a basecoat.

Im painting my defroster vents, the trim pieces on the top of each end of the dash, and the fender bolt covers on the kickpanels.

Im going to use Duplicolor Cardinal Red over a light gray primer for the first piece. After it dries, I will compare it to the dash and make any shade adjustments necessary.

Its a little more work, but at $7 a spray can, its much cheaper than the $25 they want to mix Rangoon Red in a spray can.

The results should be close enough to be presentable.
