Slick 60's

How'd ya'll like the Chevy commercial that has an Apocalypsic scene where a man and his dog are in a truck that is burried in the ruins of the city? He starts the truck (and supposedly nothing else is stirring) and drives and meets up with his 4 or 5 buddies. They ask where is so and so. And the answer is he drove a Ford. The funny thing is that in an actual Apocalypse, the trucks that would be running would be slicks, and you guys would be the ones with the knowledge to get them going.

I like their creative thinking and it's a well laid out add. I certainly prefer Ford so the content sucks. But what's worse is that Ford made a big deal out of it. Don't threaten GM or ask them to remove it. Just counter with an add that slams them for for spending 7 million dollars on a super bowl add when it wasn't long ago the people were having to bail them out. Or make an add showing a flood and Ford trucks surviving while GM and Dodge are sinking and asking for some help in bailing. Ford's already proven they were the only one of the big 3 that could survive without help.

Cory, it took me a second read (never said I was quick), but I think you should get that idea to Ford's attention. Maybe you could get an additional gig as an ad-writer!

im going to stir the pot a little, if the fords they are talking about were diesels then the add would be true

Depends on what diesel engine you are talking about.I had a '96 powerstroke that I loved.Ford should have kept it.As for the 6.0 they seem to have some troubles but not enough to deter me to the dark side(GM).

Downhill in what aspect, I don't have one but my dad has a 2011 Superduty Diesel that he bought new, he's bought a new Ford Diesel every 2-3 years for the past I don't know how many years and he loves it, he's retired and pulls a 5th wheel regularly and loves it. I've done some running around with him and I'd have to say I've never been in a nicer truck in my lifetime but that would be based on comfort and aesthetics.

they are nice trucks to drive but i dont know of to many 6 liters that werent moneypits after 70000 miles, the 6.4 was a little better but not much

Well that could be some of why Dad loves his, he rarely keeps them through that many miles. I do know short of backing into his tailgate when hooking up the 5th wheel he's had no issues with any of his trucks on a mechanical breakdown level and I'd say that goes back to 1997 which was his last gas truck. Like I say, he's upgraded since then every 2-3 years so he's had a 5 or so diesels over the last 14 years, all Fords but then he probably never keeps one through 70K miles.
