The hood hinges on my uni are worn out.I have a good set of hinges but they are missing the springs.I want to swap the springs from the worn out hinges to the good ones.Is there an easy way to do it without maiming myself in the process? Those big 'ol springs look like they could really hurt someone, and I dont want any part of that...any suggestions,or advice?

Seems to me that the old springs losing tension is also a problem with the hood hinges not fitting/closing properly.
Just for thought.

I found an easy way to change springs.Cut a paint stir stick into 1" peices. As you lower the hood the spring streches and slide the 1" peices between the springs and when you raise the hood the spring will fall off

Way to go, Mike! That needs to go in "Hints and Tricks". There was a joke going around a while back about men who had high forheads were great thinkers, and men who had bald spots on the back of their heads were great lovers, and baldheaded men had it all.
Mike, you just shot a big hole in that theory. Congrats buddy! TR

TR, I have heard that tale before except for the last line. Instead of "baldheaded men had it all. " it was baldheaded men just think they are great lovers! LOL
