Spent Some Time With Little Black Today....

Post by Effie »

My brother has been crawling my ass for letting my truck get so dirty. I haven't had the cover on it, so the damn cat got on it, and its all dusty.

We had beautiful weather this weekend and yesterday I goofed off. Today I got up and wanted to go to town to get breakfast. He says, you're not going anywhere til you spend time with that truck and get it cleaned up.

Ok, whatever.... yes'uh mast'sa.

When I first started driving it, it was blowing oil out around the distributor and got all over the spark plug wires, distributor, the firewall...it just looked crappy. So I spent basically all day on the engine bay and I'm still not done. Tomorrow I'll drive it to work and wash it.

Oh and I was in the ER again, haha. So I've been puny all week and finally felt up to doing something. Yeah, I'm fine, I was just yackin my guts out, got dehydrated, pissed off my heart...again. But I'm fine, Ford Tough!

Here's some pics....

And After....plenty of Simple Green, a tooth brush, some rags and elbow grease. OH and a short break to go put some rounds through my Ruger .380.

Looks like I missed some on the oil filter adapter.

I didn't get a before of the boots, but oil had sprayed all over these, too. Got them clean.

I don't remember who or when, but somebody was wanting motivation to get the inner fenders and wiring and such cleaned up, so here's the inner fenders....

I'm hoping..HOPING..*crosses fingers*..that my next thing will be new aluminum trim for the sides. Gotta get my taxes done.

Anyhow, thanks for looking....just had to share that I spent some quality time with the Little Black truck today. :)

If your brother is bothering you because your Slick is dirty, I can only imagine what he would say about mine

Well, considering he helped me build it and he has just as much sweat and work in it as I do...not to mention he knows the money I've got in it...I kinda understand. He wants me to take care of it and for it to look nice.

*shrug*

He gets on to me about that ratty Bronco, too. And its...not pretty at all. I've let the valve covers get rusted and those billet pulleys that are worth more than the whole truck, I don't keep them clean either.

Thanks for the comments. Anthony, I'll get some updated body shots soon. I'm not sure I ever posted the pics from when we pulled the dash pad off and painted it. I need to do a little something something about the dash thing.

Pretty truck indeed, but what was causing the oil to be blown out?
As my dad used to say, somewhere there was a horse that died a painful death from terminal constipation due to missing a key part of its anatomy.

No idea. A friend stopped by yesterday and he had a similar problem on an engine he had and changed to a conventional oil because the synthetic could get by the o'ring around the dizzy. It actually only did it when I first started driving it. I just never did clean it up, yeah, its been like that for a year.

But I am going to a thicker oil, just plain ol conventional 20w50. I got a sticky lifter that's a clack-clackin. Grr. I hate noises. I can put up with a lot of car pet peeves, but noises, especially exhaust leaks drive me nuts.
