I got my fenders, doors, and hood off this weekend and the grill last night. I wish I would have known about the bolts that go through the bottom of the radiator support through the recess. They are on each side of the radiator right at the bottom. No wonder it wouldn't come off! Plan is to get everything soda blasted as soon as I get everything apart. Good progress.

I got the windshield and back glass out the last two evenings. That old weatherstrip is nasty. It's hard and brittle and kind of oily. Getting close to being ready to haul the truck to the blaster although it's cold here in Texas. We're not used to freezing temperatures along the coast!

Didn't you drive that truck without a bed to our get together in Smithville back in November of 2009. It sure does look familiar. TR

If you soda blast be sure to clean it REAL good - the soda leaves a residue that will ruin the new paint.
I'd suggest sand blasting or crushed walnut shells - if you have somebody that has car parts experience there won't be any problems.

I agree with Greg. Also check into the plastic media blasting for the outside. It doesn't do any damage to the metal at all. Sandblasting is fine for interior, firewall and things like that. If you do sand blast the outside make sure that they know what they are doing. They can do irrepairable damage if they don't.Greg D wrote:If you soda blast be sure to clean it REAL good - the soda leaves a residue that will ruin the new paint.
