The place to talk Slicks. All we ask is that discussion has something to do with slicks...

salvage yard

Post by good2bea9 »

So today I made it to the salvage yard here in San Antonio (did not see one slick) I found a set of split exhaust manifolds with down pipes, two 16" steel rims with nice tires. I also found two rear bumpers from two different F250s (one a 77 and one newer) Will have to go back after I measure the frame and the outside dimension of the of the wrong bed to see which I will get if either of them.
Transmission- found a manual (floor shift) in an 85 f250 4x4 so this should bolt up to my 66 F250 4x4 240!?! I know it is hydraulic but that does not seem like that big of a deal. What is required to put this in? Thanks.

That looks like a fun yard to visit. Where are you at? I am in San Antonio (Ft Sam Houston). I like the pics of your Clifford set up, that is what I am planning to buy next. I could just go buy the intake but momma would give me the eye! I saw the pic of the bumper but what I do not like about most of them is how they wrap around and attach to the bed! If you are close, we are going to have to get together with the slicks. Currently have to rebuild my carb again, but I am going to wait on that so I can upgrade to the Clifford and 4brl carb.

Brian, please let your friend know that I WILL buy the clifford from him. Is that the 43-4502 that he has? I have a friend that lives in Midlothian and he is a firefighter/paramedic. I am not really trying to sell the truck, but I post it so my wife will leave me alone about it. With that said, she never complains about when I buy parts for it! (Better than going out drinking and womanizing)! I have a line on a NP435 transmission that I am going to get next time I am in Az and do the swap. So there are some plans for her. If your friend wants to sell the Clifford, let me know and I will take a drive! Thanks.

Tell us more about the split manifold setups. What engine are they for, can you get some pictures. I have a friend who will be in san antonio after the first of the year who can haul a few parts for me while I plow the snow off of his driveway. Sounds like an even trade as long as it is not too difficult for him to make the connection with you.
