Hello everyone, and Happy Thanksgiving. I've been lurking for awhile, and finally decided to join.
This slick thing is very catchy. My old man had a 64 F100 while I was growing up that I leaned to drive in. He also had a 64 tow truck at one time. So when the time came I decided I need a truck for around the house, I bought my first slick. A 1966 F100....
Image
I love it. It's mostly all stock, runs great, and does everything I ask of it.
Image
Then I came across this little gem I couldn't pass up for 4 wheeling....
Image
This picture is when I drove it home.
Since then it's been updated with a leaf spring from from a 76 F250 tallboy, a Dana 60 highpinion with disc brakes up front, a 14 bolt in the rear (sorry GM haters), a Ford power steering box from an International Scout. and 37" Humvee tires.
Here's how she sits now...
Image
Soon to be locked front and rear, and a new process 205 T-case to replace the dana that came in it stock.
I keep seeing good deals here in Nor Cal, if I had the room I'd have more, even if it isn't practical.
Happy Thanksgiving everybody.

How easy is it to find the Merc trucks where you are in Canada. The fist trip to BC to visit my inlaws, I saw one. Very cool.

Kinda hard to find the Merc Uni's up here but regular cab PU's are a little more common. I actually just bought a Merc donor truck that the 300 I6 is coming out of. Fairly rotted but lots of good parts once the motor's out.

Almost bought this one last year.

It was a 66 f100 4x4 frame, with a 65 cab added, near as I can tell. My friend is a welder by trade, and builds 4x4s. I always liked the simplicity of leaf springs, and so we added them. Made our own mounts etc., but we used parts we could find, like the 76 F250 stock springs. The steering box was left over from my friends Scout, as he when to full hydro steering.
Since the truck wasn't cherry I didn't have a problem making all the changes to it.

Is the steering box power and have you got a pic of the steering box and the mounting location of it?

It is a power steering box. I'll get some pics of it for you tomorrow, and post them.

I think all of these truck are awesome. Scratches, dents, faded paint and all. These trucks where meant for work, unlike alot of the new trucks. I'm not saying the new trucks aren't good or nice. It's just that these trucks where viewed as something different back when they came out. So I appreciate these trucks in all forms. Like a nice pair of comfortable boot or jeans. Tough but still look good.

Welcome from just over the hill fifteen min. away!!!
Great looking trucks.
We seem to be getting thicker in these parts.Sacramento,Modesto, Davis,Fairfield,Pasorobles,Ukiah, Vallejo,Benicia, and San Jose just to name a few.
Sooner or later we will have to plan a get together just to say hello, and drool over each others trucks
I love to see someone else get the affliction
