1964 f100 project in VA continued! new pics!

Post by abrasilian »

Hey, as some of you know I've been working on this 64. A friend actually gave it to me since it was just rotting in his back yard, it actually started right up after a few trys and changing a fuel pump. It had been sittin for a long time, it has a rebuilt 351 with auto tranny from a 77 LTD II. runs great, as a lot of you know, Ive been having a lot of brake troubles, with help with some guys here ive decided to go with everything new, 68 mustang booster and master cylinder, all new lines and i also need that lil box that slpits the brake line to the wheels, w/e its called. Here is some pics, hope they come out good cuz im using my cell. My name is cadu btw.

Mid 80s LTD II seats, they don't look bad in there. How do they fit?

To tell you the truth they,re not even bolted in, their in pretty good shape. Kinda dirty though, when i fix the brakes Im investing in a bench seat. Some on slick 60s had one near me.

if you have four wheel drum brakes you need a distribution block. if you have front discs and rear drums you need a proportioning valve.
i have a proportioning valve here, but sounds like you need a dist. block. shouldn't be hard to find from someone on here. put an ad up in the classifieds.
btw, that's a good looking solid start to a project.

Man, you dont understand what that information means to me, so drum drum apps. Need distribution block. Would one from a 68 stang fit? And thanks man, it actually looks a lil better already, i sand blasted and painted the headlight bezel, got original tail lights on it, cleaned out the whole interior. Im very happy with it, just having a hell of a time with these brakes!

as long as the stang is drum/drum. all it is doing is taking the two lines going into it and splitting them into front and rear. i might be wrong, but i think there are two outlets for the fronts and one outlet for the rears and they split up at the rear of the truck.
i'm sure someone will chime in with all the correct info.

Cool, i found a 67 stang distribution block for not a lot of money. Does it matter if its for a manual or power brake? btw my truck is ran a lil different, the lines go to each wheel. So its 1 in and 4 out. I think im going to buy it and try it out.

hey guys, it's been a while since i've been on here regularly.I just bought a new laptop. I have been working on my slick though! I've got the brakes working, I also finally got my antique plates, and insurance. i had a problem with my charging system and i thought it was the alternator bc i'd jump start the truck then unplug the positive form the battery and the truck would shut off. i took the alternator to Autozone and it tested good. so after a little research I changed the voltage regulator, and reinstalled the alternator. cranked it and gave it a lil gas to warm up the truck bc its cold in VA, truck was idling fine and I took off the positive off the battery again and truck stayed running. I was so excited, for no reason at all I hit the throttle just a bit and the truck stalled out, and wouldn't start again. this truck would always start easily. so I don't understand. does anyone know why it is doing this? or where I should start? no spark maybe? anyways thanks everyone for the help in getting me this far.

Glad to hear that you got it going. It is always hard to troubleshoot something when you can't get your hands on it, or know exactly what equipment you have. Now that you have it running, put some miles on it.

yea, but it's always good having people who have experience with these same things. this time it was easy, after our sunday night chat, I went straight to that module and noticed that it as actually melting down the firewall. installed the new one, and vrrooom. I probably put about 20 miles on it today. thats a record. lol

Ok, so today I woke up this morning and the truck would not start. I jumped it and it started right up. unplugged the battery, again, and the truck died. I don't get it. i plugged the alternator back just like the other one that was already in it. maybe its wrong? how do I know what plug goes where? I have a pic of the alternator and wires. just forgot how to post it. any ideas for tomorrow?
