Slicks in the Movies

Post by Michelle »

I have seen a few movies with slicks before, but soon there will be one more. They are filming a movie in Smithville. Yesterday the movie people came by my house and wanted to look at my big slick. As soon as they saw it they wanted to use it. They will be shooting the scene next Tuesday with my truck. Here's the good part. I will be driving it. I will be pulling a cattle trailer with it and with some cows in the trailer and the scene calls for an 18 wheeler car accident. No accident will actually happen. It will show scenes of the truck going down the highway and a car will coming the other way. They will give the appearance that the two is closing fast. The people in the car is distracted and run into the truck. Just before the crash it will show the people throwing their hands up to protect their face and fade to black with the sound of a crash. Yesterday I wasn't sure if I would be driving the truck or not, but the lady called today and said the director liked the idea of me driving as he thought it would be cool to have a woman truck driver. The time period is in the mid 1960's. They are also going to be using my 56 F 100 and the 64 Falcon for cars in the back ground or cars passing by but not in the same scene as the truck. They want to car and pick up for a Saturday night shoot.

Michelle, That's way cool. Period movies are great if done right...I was watching Dirty Harry just the other evening and saw two Slicks in it that I never noticed before... :)

Tell us the name of the movie when you find out.

I remember they filmed a Burt Reynolds movie here in Nashville back in '75... I still wonder how they changed the name of the bar without really changing the sign.

Sounds like a lot of fun! Will look forward to seeing the movie. I think it is especially neat that you will have 3 rigs in the flick!

The Name of the movie is Doomby. It stars John Schnider (Bo Duke) of Dukes of Hazard fame. There supposed to be shots of me driving the truck, but you know how that goes, they could just as easy end up on the cutting room floor. I will keep my fingers crossed.
