Slick 60's

I seem to remember a while back (maybe 3-4 years) seeing someone with chromed hood hinges.... anyone remember or know if it will work?

Not a good idea for a driver or a truck.
It rusts.
It peels.
And it generally looks like it belongs on one of those high dollar show cars no one ever looks at.
But hey, that's just me..... what do I know.

Maybe try powder coating them? They have a "chrome-like" finish (not as shiny as chrome) if that's the look you're going for. Would probably last longer and better than the chrome and not nearly as expensive.
As for me, I'm usually more worried about getting them to work properly than how they look

I'd build them out of stainless if I could, but i'm not that talented yet.

I love the opinions on this site, it's a major reason I don't come here often anymore.... Same guys who said traditional stainless nerf bars on an early 60's truck "looked funny".

Thanks for the link. I had misplaced it. Not cheap, but when you consider what you have to pay for a re-pop and then they work like crap, not a bad deal. Lifetime warranty too!

Well I was trying to keep it G-rated but you are correct.

I, for one, come here for opinions. I can't just ask the wife or neighbors about something that only a slickster would know or even care about. Don't change a thing!

How much do they want for their service? I could not find that on the website.

Years back I had a set of hinges done on a 70 Mach 1 they held up very well. Again its pretty much what the plater does with them.

On my current project I had my hinges plated with electroless nickle and they look pretty nice. I did not want them to show rust as it will be a daily driver.

where in washington are you located? I am on the way east side.

What wheels are on your truck? Do not care for most aftermarket wheels but those look nice.

There is kind of a trick to getting the hinges to look right

They cannot be blasted.



Cost on these hinges was very minimal

Powder coated my underhood hard ware and it still looks great.

Also note that powder coated is safer. Plated hinges need to be treated for hydrogen embrittlement and many people have not done that and experienced catastrophic failure (if you have my luck, failure only occurs at 70mph in heavy traffic! LOL). Hawkrod

I am actually leaving Pullman now, living in TriCities for the summer and will be living in Spokane for the next two years attending graduate school at Gonzgaga.

And I put 1500 miles on the truck in the last week. 150 more this afternoon.
