Pics of my wife's new slick

'66 SWB

Good stuff:
-429 ('71 LTD)
-c-6 w/shift kit ('70s 1 ton)
-discs up front ('70s 1/2 ton)
-275/60/r15 cooper cobras on cheapo wheels

Stuff I really like:
-hidden hitch behind fold down rear license plate
-gooseneck
-no holes in the seat
-no bad rust on the cab
-quiet dual exhaust
-cd/radio works

Bad stuff:
-paint is done for
-the last cross member of the bed is rusted through in places
-missing the mount for passenger side mirror
-no seatbelts
-needs weather stripping everywhere

She drives straight and still has a little authority when pushed. After a quick oil change and some belt adjustments--between tomorrow and tuesday--she will be my wife's daily driver(20-30 miles x 5 days per week). I'll definitely be needing advice when it comes time to really start improving things later this summer. Try to see you all at slick stock. Thanks again for all your help thus far.

Josh

Nice truck, Wheels and tires always makes the beginning statement. They always sets her attitude.

hmm, I am picturing my wifes reaction if I told her that was her new commuter.

I have a feeling that you found a special woman

Wheels make any vehicle have attitude.... even if it is rusted plum down, which that thing is definitely not!! The truck looks to be in good shape and not a lot of rust so wheels first to set the attitude.... just my :2cents: ....

Are you sure those are cheapo wheels?
They well say Center Line between the lug nuts if they are the real thing.
Mine has the real thing. Wish I could find some center caps.

Nice score. I hope the wife lets you drive it some.

I can definitely go with the wheels first...

As for the wife - Let's just say I've desensitized her over the last three years. Started with a Focus, transitioned slowly to a Cherokee, and now a Slick! She found this one and liked it, so I bought it for her. Assuming I can keep it on the road, this will be our cheapest commuter by far.

What's wrong with the wheels? :?
Classic old school deep dish, they don't make them like that no more.
Get some Eagle one aluminum mag cleaner for non coated wheels. You may be surprised. :)
Unless you're more into those 24in spinners.

Caps say American Racing... I don't know what they cost, I just think they look a little cheesy.

Not the "coolest" thing on the planet but those wheels would look decent if you cleaned them up real good and got a shine on them and replaced the center caps.
Then you could work on the paint etc. and get some new ones later having t look good in the mean time.
Just a thought.

Polish out those rims and it will look much better, paints better than mine for sure!

I was thinking slot mags of a similar size 15/16 inch. That might be as taboo as my front bumper, but hey, I really like the front bumper.
I'm definitely not one of those that likes the 24" rims. I might be the only fella in east st louis that doesn't though - thanks a lot Scott AFB.

BTW, you can also "wake up" those wheels by getting a little creative with the center caps.

Same idea - but a little cheaper. They also have a cone to cover the lugs.

Jerry, if you don't "have" to have Center Line caps these could work for you too. Both Wheel Vintiques and Gorilla make a large assortment of center caps. The first one is identical to the ones that AR made for my Rodmasters that were more expensive and are discontinued. I'll get a set of them when I get to that point. That style wheel would look really sharp with knock off caps & the cones - I think I'd use a smooth cone though.

Ahh, why didn't I think of some knock offs. Thanks Greg. :)

Well you're are not going to like my truck when it's done 'cause it's going to have those push bars on the front bumper and my Old School rims.

Atleast we agree on the power plants. or is it going too?

Nice truck man, enjoy it. :)

Don't get me wrong - I don't dislike Centerlines. The 1 piece knockoff ones don't quite look the same though. Even those cleaned up and done up right aren't bad. Just not my first choice.
I actually have a push bar planned for the Uni - be awhile before it's at that point though, may end up with a front roll pan too for that matter.
I was heading in sort of a Bonneville racer direction with it anyway - I have adjusted the plan for it though. More Salt Flat look - less compromise on the styling for it (ie wheels, etc).
The Rodmasters will be going on the 64 - original plan was they would go back on the Uni later on - not anymore though.

After a quick google on slot mags I came across a fella on the HAMB asking 100 bucks apiece for 15" wheels... Is that about right price wise?
