Door Wiring what did you do.

Post by Dakota Kids »

How are you guys getting power into your doors? I'm looking at Mag Shooters does anyone have any experience with them. I'm just looking into ideas to get 30amps or better into my Doors. :help:

I have the MagShooters in my Model "A" to run the power windows and power door locks. They work fine. The only problem with them is if you forget to roll up the windows, you have to get back in and shut the door to put the window up. It's not really a problem, just a little inconvenient.
I used the stainless sleeves that slide into the door to hide the wires on my 63 F100.

I ran my speaker wires across the firewall and in thru the hinge pockets, then wire tied the wire to the hinge arm.
Seems like you could do the same with your power wire if you use a small woven abrasion sleeve.

I'm not arguing with you. I'm just explaining why I'm right.
Pardon me. Does your deaug bite?

Yesterday I was ready to put the Handles Back on!! Thanks for the response I am really looking at the Magnum Shooters I talked to the guys at Dakota Digital and they said they were good for 40 amps. I'll need 30 amps for the Pulls.
Skip I was a little worried about the braided lines getting hung up in the doors. But the hinge idea sounds so simple.
I do love changing my mind. ha!

there's a wide gap between door and and door post, I doubt that the magshooters would work, I had to make 3/4" offset brackets to mount interior light switches. so check that out. before buying. there is an after market flexable conduit that attaches to door and slides in and out when opening door that would work well. I'M going to use them when I install p/w.

Guys and Girls here is the best looking way to do it,,, take a short piece of steel brake line,,, then tak weld it to lower hinge to the shape of the hinge then paint it same color of the hinge so it loooooks part of the hinge as well run your wires through that

I use accordion like rubber boots, from A 1 Electric, ( www.a1electric.com). They are called "accessory rubber boot". They mount to the door jamb and the edge of the door and offer a completely enclosed and bushed conduit for wires. A1 offers a flexible stainless conduit, also.

I have no interest in A 1 Electric, just a very satisfied customer.
As an aside, A 1 also offers bolt in power window kits for out trucks. Check it out.

This place has pretty cool stuff. I got all of my LED stuff from them (upgrading the dash lighting).

Here's a link to some of their door options: http://www.keepitcleanwiring.com/search/door

I used the stainless looms like these on my 63. I had to put a stop on the door so it wouldn't open quite all the way. Without the stop the looms would pull out too far and bind when the door would shut. I put a 1/4" shim on the hinges to keep them from opening all the way and they wotk fine.
