Slick 60's

I happened across an old photo album yesterday that brought back some great memories. Although the Polaroid photos are very worn, they are still prized possessions to me.

Below is my first truck a 1965 F-100.

After working the summer on farms I was able to save up enough money to buy Dupont paint and a small air compressor. I painted the truck outside "open air" style under the shade tree. It actually turned out pretty good if I may say.

"Ole Red" received a 460 cid and C6 from a Lincoln. This truck was truly a sleeper and would billow smoke from the rear fenders. I drove the truck through high school and later sold it to a buddy. He lost control of it one rainy night and rolled it. The truck still sits in the back forty at his Dads farm just waiting for me to rescue it back. Hmm......

Photo albums are great! That was a great trip down memory lane!

Paint looks awsome, don't see many flies or leaves in it!!
My trucks were usually primered because in highschool, primer was COOL!

Time for a rescue mission!

Often wish I could get my first car back, but she's long gone. I tried to find her about 20 years ago. I had sold her to a buddy, and he wrecked it and sold it to a rancher, who took the motor out and used it in a truck. Never could find the rancher. 1951 Vicky, had good times in that old car. I g ave 45$ for it and raplaced a front fender and grill parts from the local salvage yard in Castle Rock , Colorado. Good days , good times , and I got up in the morning feeling great. If only to be able to get up and not hurt somewhere. Youth is wasted on the young.

great looking back, I bought a new 65 in 65, a black 65 ranger, kept it one year, I was young and dumb back then. never kept a truck or car very long. Bill

Hey Jim, I say go get her back and replace the roof with a big back window roof. That would look sweet being a short stepside.

Michelle, you had a very nice first truck. Wow!

I have been in contact with my buddy and it is sounding like a road trip is going to happen this spring. It will likely need a lot of work by now...but, it would be worth it.

In 1968 big hair was the order of the day. The bigger the better. Actually its not me in the picture. She and I were in the Air Force together. The picture posted above is the only one I have of the truck.

Here is what she looks like today. She and her husband only live about thirty five miles from me.
