my 64 Chop top

Post by Kid »

Well it has been setting for about 10 Years since I took it apart and decided to chop it. it is now going back together. I had the cab on a Mercury marquise frame and then decided to put it back on the orig frame. I have front disc brakes and reversed eye front springs under it, Today I finished putting the front cab mounts in and set the engine in place. I put the orig 223 in it and have plans for a 390 and auto going in at a later time. I will have this truck up and running in time for SS next Year ( come on JC, if I can get mine done so can you ). I am going tomorrow and get brake lines and start running them before I put the box on it. it is going to a freinds paint booth for the Winter so I can work on it there and have it all painted and put back togtether before it comes back home. I will get some pics of it as soon as I can ................

Alan,,, SHHHHH. I keep telling her garages are for storage only. We rolled it out side and took a few pics and I will post them as soon as I can get them off my camera onto the puter. It is just the cab and engine in the frame right now and the box is waiting to go on after I run brake lines.

Dug around the shop and found my blasting media and am planning on getting the inside of the cab blasted this week. Hope to have the underside of the cab done at the same time. My Brother is coming out here for a week and help work on the truck, plan on having it in the paint booth when he gets here and be able to take it back home before he leaves and start putting it together.

Well a little more progress has been made, YEE-HAWW. Had to cut out the bottom of the rear of the cab when I set it on the car frame so I had to weld a patch in the opening. Got the engine bolted in and am waiting to get some help to roll the cab back and get the underside cleaned up and the interior floor then I am going to use undercoating under the cab and on the floor and the back wall of the inside of the cab. I got the steering box and column out and the pedal assembly lying on the floor beside it to get cleaned up so when I paint the cab I can do the column also and have it ready to go in. Man I really feel good working on the truck again.

I am glad to hear that working on your ol truck is bringing some joy to you. Usually, the finished vehicle's quality reflects that passion you have for it right now. Can't wait to see it all together!
