DROPPING MY TRUCK ""HELP""

ok so tomorrow is my d-day imm drop my truck from the rear i have leaf springs my first idea was to pull out the diff cut the little brackets and wled them under neath n just sit the diff on top of the leaf springs n bolt everything back on sounds easy but on another forum a guy told me i can just flip my diff around with out having to cut n weld it that way my plates face down and just bolt everything back on what do you guys think i need help with this and whats the safe way to do this

I have never heard of that being done!, Oh and Welcome to the club!. to lower mine I raised the spring mounts up the chassis rails, a fairly easy method used by a few here.

Hi. Did you have to modify the shock mounts any? How much did this lower it? Do you still have plenty of suspension travel without notching the frame?

Randyr, have a look in project build`s, in Beryl`s rebuild. I have not progressed much lately due to family stuff

, Ezer would be the best one to answer most questions, as he is driving a bump with that done to it!

No... don't flip your axle over. The gears in the differential are designed to throw oil around to lubricate itself. If the axle is flipped over, the diff can't toss oil around as it was designed to and will fail. Besides that, you're tires would spin backward and you would be spending a whole lot of time in Reverse gear to get anywhere!
Remove axle, cut off existing spring perches. I've found it easier to make new ones from some square tube than try to save the existing perches; there are also aftermarket available too. Measuring carefully for width and also angle. At the moment I forget what is ideal, but you need to set the pinion at a certain angle to reduce driveline vibrations and wear. Weld perches on. You may be able to reuse your U-bolts and plates to assemble.
Since you have it apart; you may consider removing some leaves from the pack for a softer ride. Others here have done so with success.
