What carb do I have?

Post by qwertyd10n »

Hey guys,

Took a couple pics of my carb in hopes that I can get some help identifying it...

[albumimg]5511[/albumimg]

[albumimg]5512[/albumimg]

[albumimg]5513[/albumimg]

[albumimg]5514[/albumimg]

Now I have to figure out how to tune it up a little... truck is idling a little fast when warm and sitting in neutral.

Looks like I have a couple of vacuum nipples that I should maybe plug too?

Cheers,
Dion

Looks like an oldschool motorcraft to me.. Maybe a holley. 2 barrel, 250-350 cfm. Are there any numbers anywhere on it?

That vacuum port beside the fuel inlet needs to be connected to something like the distributor vacuum advance. If it's not connected or plugged it could cause the idle to be high.

There should be some kind of idenification on the carb, but it appears to be an Autolite.

Looks almost identical to the 2bbl on the 292 in my '64 F100.

It's an Autolite. Good street carb, easy to work on. Not great for performance use, although they can be set up on a triple manifold made for Holleys.

Correction, they aren't called Autolites any more, they're Motorcraft-Ford and the model # is 2100. I see the brass tag is gone, it should be on one of the top screws. That had the info for that particular carb on it.

It is an Autolite. The Motorcraft carbs did not come out until 72 and they were never Ford brand unless it was very early on (they came out in the 50's). The early ones like the one pictured is an Autolite 2100 and a later one would be a Motorcraft 2100. The name change was due to a Federal anti trust lawsuit and was part of the settlement between Ford and the government. The carb will have ID numbers stamped on the side of the base below the mounting stud. Post those numbers and we can tell you what it is, Hawkrod

My dizzy doesn't have a vacuum advance... so should I just plug it?

Yes, cap it if you are not using it. Hawkrod
