What have you done to your slick today??
Re: What have you done to your slick today??
Bought an oiled cotton air filter from Jegs. Spectre brand 17.99. Lots cheaper than K&N. Topped it off with a new wing nut that looks like the inside spokes of an old school wooden steering wheel. Also bought a new Craftsman double box end wrench 3/8 and 7/16 to use as my battery hold down. At just over 7 inches it fits across the top of my Optima battery perfectly. And at about $8 its a LOT cheaper than those billet hold downs. These two things aren't much but they were just what I needed to ease the Slickness. And last but not least I bought a fire extinguisher to put in the truck. I have one in the garage but now I have a small one for the road.

Very good! You now also have a spare wrench available, as long as you have the correct wrench available to access it

Sunday: Replaced brake hoses and realized I ordered rear brake hose for F100. One less part to buy for the 1/2 ton! Got beat off line by an auto Cummins. Caught him at 70 the he quit. Would like to have seen if his speed limiter was on. Must be the sound of an FE that makes every redneck think its a race.

Stitches in index finger have left me down for a few days. Dr. said no doing dishes for a while. Wife immediately says no dishes means no working on the cars as well right doc? So truck sat a week waiting for more work. Finally feeling a bit better and today I installed the parking brake cables I had been waiting for on it. After that my wife and I put about 40 miles on the truck running errands. Starting to formulate plans for an engine rebuild in late spring/summer. As well as it is running, the 300 is tired, uses oil and smokes a bit.

this is a Warn Winch bumper for Fords that a guy had on his '66. I bought it along with a warn 8274-50 winch and a pull-pal winch anchor.

While rebuilding my 292, again, I decided to add a reverse switch to the column shift 3 speed. Figured it was a good time with th front clip off.
Simple momentary toggle, double stick tap and screw clamp.

Thanks,

Pulled the hood off and radiator out to prep for an engine rebuild!
Somehow I get this nagging feeling that it's not just going to a rebuild. I see new rad support mounts, painting firewall, frame and inner fenders, on and on....
Wish me luck.

Re: What have you done to your slick today??
Installed a correct set of 2 roof clearance lights (one on each side), and while I was wiring them in, played with the headlights switch a little and rewired the front parking lights into the tail lights so that they stay on with the headlights instead of turning off. Looks better. Also threw on a set of '69-era rear reflectors underneath the tail lights, which look really good too; almost correct-looking (tho they're not).

Re: What have you done to your slick today??
Hoping to get some time to work on the truck today, need to wrap up the overhead console and headliner so i can finish wiring. In the mean time I'm looking in to doing another crank switch conversion for some 70's trucks per the request of a couple locals on another forum.

Re: What have you done to your slick today??
Cut out my passenger floor and starting fitting in the new panel from Tom. Nice and thick, fits great. Have to repair kick panel a bit before I finish fitting the floor, and now that the cab support is only held on by three spot welds I'm thinking of replacing them rather than repairing them. They aren't that bad, but since it is wide open now is the time.
Still swearing at the toploader 4spd sitting next to the chassis
.
That thing has bit me every step of the way. Back from a full rebuild, and now new bearing retainer is thicker than the old one and is hitting the clutch fork. Old one was cracked.
