Been thinking about that mod since I first saw Garbz' post. You've done it justice. Now I want one! LOL just add it to my list. And thanks for posting the step by step!

MadMaxetc wrote:Just looked up the price at DC. $50 each for the riser and $30 each for the rockers...

That is a $160 mistake I hope none of you make. Buy some sheet metal working tools instead.
I had problems with DC's door skins.

Your work is looking good, keep it up.

After I got my grill repainted after slickstock, I thought about the grill and wished that I had done that to mine and put the turn signals in the headlights. I just didn't want to have to repaint it again.
Your project is coming along nicely and looking great.

Here is bit of an update.

I have been able to get out in the morning on Saturdays before it gets to hot.

I have some patches to put on the step riser, then the step can go in and the back pillar patch.
Then I will have to make another rocker panel and cab mount.

Then on to the cab corners and....it just goes on and on.

Dan.
I must have missed something. Where are you putting the turn signals. The modification is awesome. Nice work.

MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENT!

For the first time since probably the late 70's my cab has 4 solid cab mounts!

I also got the riser fixed.

Still have a long list, but it feels doable now. 8)

Well I only got one side done before I had to come in to go to the church picnic.

Image Image

I also finished the inside step area.

Image

The other side should go faster. It is not as bad. A little more welding and the repairs should be done...then the mods can start.

Fill in the gas filler hole.
Fill in the antenna hole.
3rd brake light.
Then it will go on to the frame to mockup the steering, engine, clutch, and brake booster.

So much left to do!

Nice work. I enjoy watching your progress. It is therapy, but also a great feeling to see something completed and setting back where it belongs!

Cab corners are done.

Also got some sweet parts from Summit.

The cutouts will get electric valves, probably hooked to the throttle.

I got the Cab back on the frame so I can place the engine and fab the clutch linkage.

Image Image Image

I did a 1" PS offset to make more room for the headers. I should have done this before I painted the frame, but I knew that.

Image Image

Image

I have 2 sets of headers that I am going to modify. The DS should fit with little effort...not so lucky on the PS.

Good Progress Today!
