Deamonknight i think i even spied maybe a f-500 or a 600 on my way home from work. Im thinking it was either a 1.5 or a 2.5 ton truck. I really need to buy a new camera since we lost ours in a camping trip rain storm. The dang tent leaked on us and we did even know it since we were sleeping on air beds.

a lot of my plans are based on thin at atm, considering I'm going on what the seller says about it, and what I remember from my first one 2 decades ago... I have only dealt with one other 352 and it was a pain in the butt to get fixed, and the few 390's I've seen were junk..ok, I can't say the people that had them were the best at keeping things in good order..

Now the few 351w I've dealt with on the other hand make me wonder why ford ever built anything else..my personal fav was a 69 cougar that would hit 150mph with the stock 2 barrel, took her a hour to get there, but man she had a top end.

I've also noticed 2 different types of gauge clusters in photos of trucks supposedly 66...not sure what to think on that.

One round, one sweeping? If so they were both offered in 66. Seems like most people like the round.

I believe Custom cabs have the sweep and regular cabs have the round. My '65 Custom cab has the sweep

:D got her home, thats about it for the good news...well ok, the tires are in good shape.

well as its the first day things that stood out on the way home are as follows in no order.

BAD: It has the sweep gauges, ugh
Good:Fired right up with little/no smoking
BAD: rusted holes in both front fenders and the hood
Good: does have a radio
BAD: some dork cut out a full sized din(?) hole for one of those huge ones
BAD: radio doesn't work
SO/SO: speed/odometer and the oil gauges do not work
Good: temp., alt., fuel and dummy lights do work
BAD: she runs a tad warm for my taste
BAD: rust is present and accounted for.
Good: I didn't fall through the floor getting in, it seems solid.
BAD: pulled over by state police for expired tabs
Good: we talked for 30 minutes about the truck and he let me go with a warning :P
BAD: it beat the living hell out of me all the way home
Good: it MADE it all the way home

Sounds like a project truck. Glad you did not get a ticket from the cop.

351 is fair game dude! I like my 390, but ford is Ford. Cripe, put in a 5.4 from a 2008 excursion for all I care (or I would assume most of us would agree.) just keep the girl a Ford and the world is good. SBC in Ford will never fail to disgust me...

"sweet Ford! what engine do you got?"
"900 HP SBC"
"EEW"
'63 with 390 & lots of juice. But never enough. Always want more.

oh. yeah. I forgot to look at page 2.

Hope he didnt butcher the dash like my POS PO did to put in a broken radio...

I hope the 390/352 turns out well for you...

Round dash chunks are pretty easy to come by.... I could even send ya one if ya want it. I dunno what it would take to make the wiring work though. probably nothing....

mines got the sweep...a good way back I was wrapping my mind around how to make one out of stainless steel that I could mount aftermarket gauges to... I can see it in my head, alas getting it from paper/head to RL has a tendency to be lacking :?
