Cool!! Another six fan!
You are the only other person I have seen with the same headers as me.
I had a 390 Holley on mine and traided it out for a 500 Edelbrock. I like it much better and it likes it too!
Have you had a chance to get it to WOT on the road yet?
Truck is loking good!

MadMaxetc:
the 390 holley does just fine. for now anyway. i had the truck up to 70 with no lack of power or fuel. the 2.50 gears really help to stay in the lower rpm power range though. at 60 im cruising at about two grand. so it never starves for fuel.
mine is a 240. had i had a 300 i would have gone with a larger carb as well.
does your rear header touch the frame? mine does just enough to rattle. but im also running on open headers right now so their is no exhaust weight to take the spring out of them.
also have you had to change your starter yet? thats gonna be a royal pain.

Ahhhh... 240 + 390 = Good combo.banjojelly wrote:MadMaxetc:

Well mine would have touched the frame if I wouldn't have left the sawsall out in the open when I took a dump. My helpers made a "nice" (ie big) cutout in the frame that one day I will have to fix.
Replacing the starter is a PITA. Intake has to come off as well as the headers (duuu) I found that if you cut the header flange so you have 3 front and 3 back, then removing them is not a big deal.
I have the T-5 and 3.70 gears, so at 2200rpm in OD I am doing 80mph.
(17mpg isn't bad eather!)
Good looking truck...can't wait to see it done!

they must have gotten smarter since you got your headers. mine were a two piece set. so two three tube headers. they were a pain to put on but i guess if i have to change the starter i can just slide the rear one out from behind the intake. although i put them on without the front clip on it so im sure its not that easy anymore.Ahhhh... 240 + 390 = Good combo.

i have heard that they make smaller high torque starters for rock climbing and off roading guys. the guy told me you can change that starter without taking the headers loose. he may have been full of
