my 68 is "goldielocks". first one i have ever named. i had a 76 f150 xlt that was called "the blue goose" by the po and the name kinda stuck with all my friends.
on the other hand i have a buddy that names all his old trucks. real original names like "ol blue" for the blue 65 and "ol red" for the red 68. lol of course his black cat is named "blackie" and his white geman shepard is "whitey". very original thought processes he has.

I named my 66 "Ralph Nader". I have no valid reason for this other than it just seemed right. Thanks, Lyman.

My '62 F-250 is called White Lightnin'
My '55 Fairlane is called Christine. She gets really PO'd if I spend too much time away from her. All kinds of crazy stuff happens when I try to take her out for a ride after a day of wrenching on the truck!

Do you know the difference between a war story and a fairey tale?
A fairey tale starts out "Once upon a time...." and a war story starts out "Now this is no Sh!^".
So you see, one day (and this is no sh!^) what with being retired with a lot of time on my hands, I was just cruising around and noticed this big warehouse full of stuff in South Houston.
Being the curious type that I am, I stopped in to take a look.
Egad.
Great googley moogley.
Holy Green Stamps.
There was all manner of neat and valuable stuff in there, including this hulk of an old Slick (even if the phrase had not been invented yet).
Now bear in mind, it wasn't really my fault, I'm a soft touch for old cars and trucks.
The old truck spoke to me..... "rescue me and I'll be forever faithful".
Now most people can't hear it, but old cars and trucks really will talk if you listen. I think non-car people don't hear it, mostly because they're to stupid to listen.
But, trust me, they do talk.
Looking at the rusting hulk, I just couldn't convince myself to make the deal and turned to walk out.
Once I was back in my truck I turned on the radio to the oldies station and Chuck Berry was singing "Nadine, honey is that you? Oh, Nadine honey is that you?"
Dammit, I was hooked.
I went back, wrote a check and the rest is history.... and that old truck is every thing she promised she would be.
She has never laid down on me and I'm a happy camper.
Nadine is a sweetheart.
So thanks to Chuck Berry, that's the story about how she got rescued and got her name.
"She moves around like a wayward summer breeze, go driver - go gone, catch her for me please ......Nadine, honey is that you? "

I call my 61 "One step closer to the edge!" I know I know most of your trucks have woman names but my truck has BALLS, it's a guy for sure........
Raised by a Greaser, became a Greaser, every trick I've ever learned is going into this old boy..... If it takes me 3 more years thats what it will take.....
Now brace yourselves this story is not for the faint of heart..... This is a sad story with a happy ending....... I was at a bad point in life. Tore up my arm, lost the job of a lifetime and had a wife that needed to find the wrong end of a gun.... The sun didn't shine at my house for about 6 months. Then one day I stumbled upon this ugly 61 Slick. It looked a little gimpy like me, but at the same time it had so much potential, (like me) Long story short I brought it home tossed the wife and went back to school to learn a new trade. I named the old boy after the song because thats where I was when we meet! Now life is great and me and that old boy will never part ways..... until the day comes when its time to hand him down and take my final breath.

My truck is called the "Turtle"
My youngest daughter named my truck cuz the truck sits so low n the grille n headlights made her think of the cartoon caricature she had in a book.
Funny thing is you can actually see the likeness, kinda like Mader in the movie "cars'

Animistic = 1. The belief in the existence of individual spirits that inhabit natural objects and phenomena.
2. The belief in the existence of spiritual beings that are separable or separate from bodies.
3. The hypothesis holding that an immaterial force animates the universe.
Anni-Mystic = Ugly but rescued 1965 F100 CC that has it's own personality or soul that is distinguishable from any other object or person.

my sister calls my '66 Madder after the tow truck in CARS movie. everyone else refers to it as 'OL Blue. (but it use to be red) i say it because not sure if its a he or a she yet just when i start thinkin its a she it does something that tells me there must be some balls under there somewhere. when my grandpa passed away i got the truck. wish i could ask him if its a boy or girl. knowing how peticular gramps was about his old trucks i am hesitant about naming it. not knowing if he had a name for it (i'm guessing he did) dont wanna call it something he would find offensive. so i call it Gramps's truck

I have to own/drive a vehicle a while to give it a name. I've probably not put more than 150 miles on my 66 since I got it in July 07. So right now its just the "Truck" or the 66.
After discovering a new exhaust manifold leak this past week POS and SOB are good possibilities.

The '89 Bronco is Mad Bronco because the other Broncos laugh at it's little tires. Sometimes its Pissed Off Bronco.
The '78 Bronco is Brutus. I don't know why, just a few days after I got it, the name popped in my head and it stuck.
The '66 F100 I've just been calling Little Black....or the '66. Somebody said it looks like a Henry, but I didn't come up with that and I have a hard time using a name somebody else gave it. "Little Black" just brings memories of being younger too. I used to have a book by Waler Farley called Little Black Pony or something. It was about a black pony and the boy stopped riding him to ride a big red horse. Little Black was sad because he couldn't run as fast or jump as high as Big Red, then one day Big Red fell through the ice and Little Black saved him.
ANYHOW...so even though Little Black '66 isn't as pretty just yet, it's still important as the nicer trucks.
