Here are pics of the box I mentioned.. We just happen to have one of the ford cutaways in the shop.. I mentioned diesel in my earlier post but this one is gas..

I have one on my 61 f350. Its looks a lot difrent then all of yours.

jkimbrel65 has his battery mounted on the outside of the passenger frame rail under the bed and it looks super clean!

I like the look of the factory box. But I want one that lowers down so I can work on it.

I came up with this...

It is slotted so that it will hang when the lower bolts are removed. (The Green tray)

You would have to have some slack in the cables if you wanted to keep them attached when you drop it down.

I used a 6" tall frame and a Group 34 Battery. It Drops 3.5" and tilts about 15deg. that should be enough to clear the bottom of the cab without to much trouble. To hold the Battery you would just use the J-Bolts and cross bar like you have on it now.

With a few mods you could build a coved to fit around it too.

Glad you like it.

I can help detail it out a little mode if you can help me get some measurements off your Frame and Battery.

Figure out where you want to put it and map/measure all the holes already in the frame, that way I can try to match them up. Be as exact as you can. I would use a square ans scribe a line verticaly (plum) on the frame through the center of one of the holes. Then try to get within 1/16" or better. Be sure to give me the diameters too.

Give me as much info on the Battery as you can. The beter my model, the better the final result.

I can produce very acurate flat peterns and data files for a CNC machine to cut them as well as to help bend them using simple break forming.

If you are going to fab them yourself I can put as much detail as you want into the drawings.

I am having fun with this...it is a way to work on my truck even in crappy weather!

I will get some measurements soon for ya. I just painted the frame today, so I will let that cure before I mark it up with scribes, lol. The battery I have right now is a Interstate MT-34, measurements are on their website if you search for that model number in their search bar.
I was talking to my Dad today, they live in Augusta, and he was complaining about the weather this morning. Kinda glad I'm in Reno right now, it has been in the low 60's almost all week...

That is good info on the battery.

What is the quality level you want to achive with this? I ask because there are some features that I can add to make it function better, but they require more parts and fabrication.

Aer you going to make it or have a shop do it for you?

I will probably end up making it myself, maybe out of 1/8" steel plate? It doesn't need to be super high quality. I was thinking of threading the holes that keep it from dropping down so that it can all be done with one wrench instead of having to put a nut on the back side of each of those bolts. I think the design you have going is nice because it is simple to operate, and simple to make from a fabrication stand point, it would be easy to do with everyday shop tools, instead of having to have it machined. I am sure others might want to see some more of your amazing designs though. Thanks for all your help, Dan!

I found it in my service manual CD, after a little detective work it looks like it's $102. Not cheap. Diesel and gas appear to be the same.
