i need to see some pics of your clutch pedal brackets. specifically the return "bumper". i am converting to a manual from an auto and i'm not quite sure how the bumper is supposed to mount.
there is a factory hole in the pedal that, when the bumper is there, corresponds to a resting tab mounted on the bracket. the only problem is that the "at rest" position of the pedal is way too high.
i would like to see a factory set up before i go and modify what i have.

You have the wrong clutch pedal bumper there. Look at Iceman's second pic. The clutch pedal stop for a 65-66 is a metal thing that bolts to the arm. You appear to have a rubber sleeve with a bolt through it.
The rubber sleave approach appears similar to the earlier 61-64 setup, but I don't know this for sure, as I've not personally used them.
Are we sure that the clutch pedal is from a 65-66?
The basic housing up under the dash is the same for both manual and automatic tranny setups -- this I know for sure. Probably you know that too. But the whole setup changes from 64-65 at least in F-100 with the arrival of the twin-I suspension and new steering....
I have the whole assembly out of my 65, complete, but I am not willing to part it out (in case I go back to manual in the future). But if you really really need me to, I can crawl up in the attic and take a picture of it.

also looked at the bumpside one,just to see and they are using one of the rubber sleeves up on the pedal bracket near the firewall as a bump stop.

looks like they changed them around several times over the years and only important thing i see is that the pedal stops at the correct height, so what kind of stop you use is relevant only to originality not function.
will save you the one in the bus, i can make my own later when i need to.

yep, that part no. 7583 is basically what you see in my first pic. not correct for my application. i had to start somewhere though.
since i now know what bracket i need, i can at least put the pedal assembly back in the truck.

on the bumps 7583 is on the main bracket rather than on the pedal itself.
