I know about "PO" Deals too too much. Everytime I get another unit I do a major "go thru & over" on it. I find
the stupidest things are done. It sounds like you got it under control now though. Expanding end's way to go.
But still, Shawn is right & I agree 100%. "Romping" a cold engine like that is the qwikest way to kill it.
Like Shawn says there's about zero to none for oil in uppers of Ice Cold Engines. And residual on crank
& rods won't lube like it needs to until it gets some heat in it. It is too viscous to flow easily or thoroughly
thru gallies of a cold engine, plus what is there is cold & will have radical or radically fluctuating PSI's.
Another Boogey Man in the Woodpile is if you get air entrained lubricating oil. Air has no lube capability at all.
I learned to practice patience with my engines by wasting them from being in a hurry too often. Just start 'em earlier.
But in all actuallity moving down here where a night in the 30's is a rarity was my true cold engine solution,
but I still let them warm & circulate a tad before I move. I also let my whole PCM initialization complete itself
Before I start to crank the engine over at all. I'd hate to have to sit in a 15 degree car & wait for everything
to get ready and then to get going also.
