Well guys.
Nadine has a fairly stout 390 with 3 deuces and a C-6 with 3.25 gears so its pretty much a crap shoot.
Since BroncoTom helped me keep from dumping out about a 1/2 pint of gasoline every time I took off (the vent tube was not properly placed) things have gotten much better. IF drive with the center two barrel I'm getting about 14-1/2-15 mpg at 65 mph.
However comma..................... when I venture into the two other end carbs ( Its not my fault. I just can't hep myself) all bets are off

I'm not arguing with you. I'm just explaining why I'm right.
Pardon me. Does your deaug bite?
Hard to tell when you only drive it around the back yard, but 5 gallons last about six months. I can gun it up to about 25 mph between the greenhouse and the big mesquite tree, but have to slam on the brakes and turn left to keep out of the creek. My wife (and i think the nieghbors) make fun of me, but it is pretty cheap fun. Thanks, Lyman.
I know my speedo is out of cal, since it reads about 55 when I know I am keeping up with traffic that moves at a minimum of 65-70....but I have a 64 with a 292 and a four-on-the-floor of unknown flavor and an unknown rear-ratio.
I've always figured that my MPG (or is that GPM!) is in the 11-13 range based on trips of known distance, though.
My biggest problem is that I can't help but get into it when I hear that exhaust note, so my results are probably skewed by my driving habits!

thats darn good doc. I actually am hoping to get into the mid 20s somehow with a small block ford in whatever truck I dont use as my towing rig. I figured perhaps a 5 speed with Overdrive, maybe 2.75s and a decent running little 302 and I might hope to achieve that.
Well I have a 262, one barrel - and with my Dana 4:10 rear end I barely get 10 mpg. but for me - it isn't the mileage so much, is that I just want to combust ALL the fuel - the carbon buildup is terrible. I have messed with this carb - the float setting, the jets, the gaps on the plugs but it doesn't change a darn thing
I am going to replace this rear end at some point - taller gear - and perhaps headers or something down the road.
These threads always contain a chuckle or two. There are three so far that are products of some sort of dreams. The 223 - 6 was a rather efficient powerplant and you should get hi teens w/it. Maybe a bit more. Ditto the 240 - 6. The Y's were not that efficient in comparison and you'll do well to get 16-17 out of them. Be aware that it does matter if you dump in ethanol blended (10%) fuel vs. straight gasoline. The former will cause a noticable drop in mileage. Expect about a 5% decrease in mileage (yes!) w/ethanol fuels. That's the only crap I could buy on my trip to Dallas, TX early this month and the numbers don't fib. The vast majority of folks in this thread are straight and/or can actually do the math and the numbers for our Slicks aren't that pretty. Aeros suck and it's a hefty hunk of iron. Add in an FE and you've got single digits there.
