ITS ALIVE........

Post by ras4434 »

I finally got the 390 running in the 65 F100 4x4. It has been sitting for a year and today for the first time snice the purchase I got the motor to turn over. With no exhaust it is LOUD but ran pretty good for the first time in over a year. I AM SO EXCITED. This was the first time I have been able to get any work done for quite some time. My doctor had been telling me that the pain that I had in my left hand was arthritus since there had not been any injury that was the most logical solution. After a year of not really being able to use the hand I had a tendon rupture that resulted in an x-ray, MRI and ultrasound of my hand. Long story short, they did exploratory surgery and had to remove the DRAIN TUBE that a surgeon left in my hand after a carpal tunnel surgery 3 years ago!!!!! Now the hand is healing and with the exception of some limited mobility the pain is going away. I hope to be able to start working on the truck myself now and not paying someone else to. I enjoy the time working on the slick. Now on to finding a transmission and a box. Remember this statement from the Six Million Dollar Man "we can rebuild him".

I want my hand completely healed before I "talk" with that doctor again. You always hear about these kinds of things happening but never who it happens to. stuff happens, just glad I am not falling apart and I can get back to the truck if this rain ever stops.

Man, that's crazy! I'm glad they found the problem & you're mending.
My "Slickitis" affliction began here...

If it starts to rain, they'll tax the splash.
If you want to fish, they'll tax the bass.
If you plant a yard, they'll tax the grass.
If you don't play nice, they'll fine your *$#!

Back when they rebuilt The Six Million Doller Man all the parts were made in the USA, Now they would come from China and it would cost $19.95 and he wouldn't last as long, but if you called the toll free number at the bottom of your tv screen you would get a free battery charger. :woohoo:

a squirt of oil in each cylinder, turn it over by hand a couple of times and then hit the starter button. I am going to run it till warm tomorrow and then check each cylinder for the correct pressure. My fingers are crossed. I paid $200 for the truck and the aftermarket valve covers are worth that.

Actually I traded a Washburn acoustic guitar for the truck with the 390. It was one of those "I have to have this thing gone NOW" kind of deals. He had started at $750 with no takers and had to be out of his house that day. So, I had originally purchased the guitar for $200 and he walked away withthat and I towed off the truck. I would say I was the winner of that deal, kind of makes up for those "other" deals I have made in the past. Like the 87 Camaro I bought for my son (I know) and the engine went after 50 miles.
