Winter projects

Whats your winter projects? My main goal is to replace the front leaf springs, door anti rattlers/vent windows new engine mounts.

I need to get the steps on my CV project closed in, and the rear cab corners closed in so I can get the cab back on the chassis.

Really need to put the bed together, too. And replace the roof.

But I'm concentrating on the steering column right now. No lights in the yard, so it's small work during the week, and welding on the weekends.

Replace my defective 2v with a 4v and barn-fresh intake manifold from Kosko Industries.

I would love to get started fixing the cosmetics on this thing but too much $$ demands by the race car right now. Roll cages don't build themselves, unfortunately.

My plans for the winter will be to finish the cab to primer, get the box cleaned up and primed, and get the rest of the body parts I need. I will have new springs made or a new front suspension by next spring also so I can have the frame blasted, and start assembling the truck next year. I have heard of a place here locally that blast and powder coat frames and suspaension parts quite reasonable, a guy took a whole chevelle frame and all the related parts to them and had it all done for $500, you just have to power wash all the oils away and drop it off, I may also get the inner fenders and core support done there. They are actually in the buisness of manufacturing farm irrigation systems. They only do semi gloss black.

Not much vehicle related unfortunately, they're all tucked in for the winter. Besides, I hate working in the cold.

This winter I'm finishing a bathroom, store room & laundry room in my unfinished basement. The only cold part is when I go outside to cut the wood.

i already started on my first one a few days ago.wifes mom moved into the lower part of our house, and i took over her 12x 24 cabin for my heated shop.i have been carrying tools and stuff over from the barn all week.soon as i get it set up and build a 7 foot doorwayi am going to start working on my uni project and a couple engines.

nice after all these years to have a dry heated place for my tools again,dropped a socket on the floor yesterday and insrtead of falling into sand it just hit the wood and rolled a couple inches.

i know this is not a ford my winter project is mounting a 1955 buick on to a 1976 cadillac frame for my brother i still have a lot of welding to do i have all ready installed a complete trunk in this car my next step is to reinstall both wheelwells and weld in some body mounts on the frame and i still have to weld in the front and back parts of the frame so i can bolt the bumpers back on when it is all done it will have a 454 under the hood and air ride and the colors are going to be a dark razberry and a pearlwhite

Sounds pretty cool but if it were mine it would have kept the 472 Caddy power plant. or maybe a 429BOSS.

I would like to finish lowering mine. My axle is supposed to arrive on Monday. But I won't be able to get to it until our holiday closure between Christmas and New Years.

Getting the 66 finished by spring. I'm wiring right now and finishing under the hood details. Need to get driveshaft built and tackle rear end. Hope to be in exhaust shop by February

....then I am trying to convince the wife that I need a 79 Trans Am...sorry guys

I have always had a soft spot for birds, this one that I want is an orig owner 70k 403 Olds silver and black T roof, too good to pass up. Its in primer and needs paint. I'll keep you posted.

I'm almost finished collecting the critical parts I need to make a runner out of my uni. My floor should be completed soon, I found a running motor, and I've got some time off at Christmas. So my first project is going to be an attempt at getting my truck from southeast Saskatchewan to central Alberta.

Once that's done I'll actually be able to work on it! My focus will be the critical stuff: brakes, suspension, steering, and wiring. I'll break that up with a bit of bodywork here and there.
