first I started off by going out and working on some septic systems i'm putting in for neighbors. I parked my truck next to the distribution line, and it looked so pretty there that I decided to take a few pics. all well and good.
Almost immediately after that, I decide to to drive along the back stretch of the property, to check on all my other systems, and make sure the tanks havent floated due to all the flooding we've been getting. That was the start of my bad ideas....
about an hour later and much disgust with myself, i'm walking back down towards my dad's place, (lives right across the road from me) to borrow his backhoe and pull my now thoroughly stuck truck out. By stuck I mean sitting in the middle of a foot deep lake about 200 feet long by 100 feet wide.
A half an hour after that, I'm trying to figure out why the old backhoe suddenly has the temp gauge pegged in the red. Pull over into a neighbors driveway and try and sort it out before it burns up.
A half an hour after that, I'm about ready to cry at the sight of the backhoe sitting 100 feet behind my truck, sunk down to the axles in the biggest mud sinkhole i've ever seen.
An hour later, now almost dark, I'm walking down the road again, trying to figure out how to explain to my dad that not only did I get his backhoe stuck, despite my best efforts to pull myself free with the hoe, I now need to have him bring his big 4x4 loader out and try and pull it out. For some reason his words when i first bought my truck float through my mind...
"now that you've got a 2 wheel drive truck, you're probably going to get it stuck thinking its a 4x4. dont even try and get out in the muck."
I sigh and keep walking.
An hour and a half later, now completely dark, an hour late for meeting friends in town, all of the rigs are finally out of the mud. My septic tank I've discovered though, is floating out of the ground.... I'm not even gonna think about it.
Next day my truck dies while driving my dad to get a car of his, the emergency brake sticks pulled out, and my dad gives me this "why the heck did you buy this old truck??" look.
CUS I LOVE MY OLD TRUCK THATS WHY!
