Awesome. I wish my set up looked that good towing my racecar. But... 1975 Olds Toronado? What size engine is in there? Front wheel drive flat bed?

This is the very first time Iever thought a car hauler might be a good idea.
A Toronado is a 455 rocket. Might not even break the bank to drive this one.
It's a race.. Will hell freeze over or will JC finish his truck first. Stay tuned..

It's a pretty common practice. The advantage is that one can simply graft a trailer on the rear of the frame and keep the deck nice and low. No clearance required for a rear differential or driveshaft.

Cool truck.

I always wondered, why didn't any of the major manufacturers ever build a Ranger, S10, or a Dakota with front wheel drive. I have owned all three in 2wd and all were good vehicles but none were great in the snow. Probably the Dakota was the best. I guess if the VW Rabbit truck caught on people would have built something to compete.

i think that i would rather have the drive axle under the rear where the majority of the weight would be while hauling.
would be interesting to test in the winter here to see how it performed.

Unfortunately the VW Rabbit truck tended to rust to smithreens with the first snowflake that hit it. Dodge also had the Rampage... also the same rust resistance. Toyotas are STILL like that but some Idjits buy them... go figger.

PS that is the same running gear on that car hauler that is under the GMC motorhome http://www.gmcmotorhome.com/faq/what.html
the ONLY motorhome I ever wished I owned. Tons of them still on the road every summer.

By the wabbit truck do you mean the transporter, those wascally wabbits could not hold traction with the front wheel drive. The 5 cylinder donk was quite good while they lasted
