Hey everybody, I am new to the forum and have enjoyed everyone's posts, builds and tips. I have learned a lot in the short time here and will be contributing to it shortly. My Dad will be bringing my truck from Southern California to Central Utah in a couple of weeks and I will be diving in head first. The truck is a 64 F100 long bed built in San Jose, CA and has been in Southern CA since it was new. My Grandpa was the 3rd owner and was good friends with the only other 2 owners of the truck. I dont know the original color of the truck but will check the tag when it gets here and decide if thats the color I will go with or not. I got this truck from my Grandpa when I was 16 (20 years ago) and it was in good shape. Being a bone headed 16 year old I abused it and now I will pay for it. My plan is to keep it as original as possible and make it as nice as it was when it left the dealer 51 years ago. I started this rebuild 12 years ago but haven't touched the truck in 10 years due to living in NC for the last 8 years, when I moved to Utah a year and a half ago my Dad and I started to plan on getting it back to me so I could continue restoring it. Here is a picture of how she sits in SoCal today.
Once I get her in the garage and go through the boxes of things I have already bought and see what I can still use I will post a plan. The things I know I have already done are; blasted and painted the frame, blasted and coated the underside of the bed and cab with bedliner, had the 302 rebuilt, replaced all of the drum brake components, my Dad did some body work and painted the cab red. That is all I can remember. I will be looking here for advise and support for the many frustrating times that I know are ahead. Thanks.
