I have a 352 that my Dad saved from a wrecked 66F100 many years ago. It turned over freely so I have kept it. However, it takes up a lot of garage space, so I decided to disassemble it. When opened up, the inners were terribly gunked up with black sludge! I found the tips of the exh valves are badly worn, but I plan to keep the heads because the ones on my truck have a couple of the manifold bolts broken off. The cylinder walls had some taper, but I did not have any trouble getting the pistons out. One rod journal had a small scratch around it, but I think it would polish out. Is there any interest in the lower end parts of this thing? One question, since it could use boring anyway.. Can a 352 be bored to accept 390 pistons? Are the crank and conn rods the same as a 390? How about the heads?
Just thinking of possibilities.......
But probably have to just let it go because of storage space.
I believe the 352 can take the 390 rods and crank. There is a way to make a 352 a 390. I'm sure someone on here knows what you could do.
If all else fails you can dump it in my garage
Crank and rods fit nicely, and all you have to do is bore the cylinders to 50 over . If you want to be ultra safe, then sonic test the cylinder walls to make sure you have enough meat there to prevent overheating or thin cylinder walls. Just so you know, the major difference in the two engines 352/390 crank stroke and bore size 4.00 and 4.50 for stock standard sizes. 390 rods need to be used with with the 390 crank because of the stroke. You can also use a 428 crank. Stroke is 3.5 ,3.75, and 3.89 for the different cranks.

OK, Thanks for the info. I thought perhaps it could be bored oversize and 390 pistons installed. I didn't know the crank and rods were different. I don't need to keep it, need the room. I guess I will advertise it for parts on Craiglist for a week or two before letting my scrapper buddy take it. Is there much demand for 352 stuff?
