Wanted to introduce myself.

I'm the recent purchaser of a 1965 F100 short bed. It has an FE engine in it (not sure what yet) and I am putting some sweat equity into it. I plan on customizing it somewhat (no plans to chop it). I'm sure I'll be asking you all for some help in the future.

Thanks for having a great forum

It's not the stock one.

The manifold is marked C4AE (By memory, so I may be wrong) and is a 2 barrel intake with a Motorcraft carb on it.

the Block is painted blue with the "Powered By Ford" valve covers (Which I've been told didn't start until '68. I am having a hard time reading the block mark on it. It is either a C6ME or a C8ME. I would think that with the Blue paint and valve covers, it's most likely a C8ME but can't be sure right now. Would a white crayon help me to read it better?

I need to measure the stroke of the engine and see what it matches, but I'm having more fun making it road worthy right now. The engine has good oil pressure, doesn't smoke (even on start up) and has a set of headers on it (no other exhaust, sounds good but neighbors hate it). It is backed by a 3 speed transmission that I assume is original (even tho' the shifter isn't)

Thanks for the welcome

Welcome Yellardog. Yes, you found the right place for info AND laughs. These guys on here can be a real hoot sometimes. Be prepared for anything. A lot of us have names for our trucks. Mine is Betty. I'm sure the guys will let you know what theirs are named.
Have any ideas what you might call yours? How about BOB? There's an unusual name for a truck :rotflmao: Most of us prefer womens names. Don't know why.
Anyhow, Welcome aboard Buddy.

Measured the stroke this morning. Just a hair over 3.75". What I've found tells me that this is a 390. Correct?
