New Tires and Wheels: Opinions?

Post by Macon ACE »

I got rid of the old slotted mags and dry rotted tires:

And closer:

Sorry, not very good pics. I decided to try white letter tires since I haven't had any in years.

The wheels are ebay specials. Very similar to the ones that came on my 93 flare side, but not identical. The tires are MasterCraft 235 75 15s - I'm afraid I may have "over tired" it.

Anyway, I'm stuck with them for awhile now. They do greatly improve ride and steering.

Greg,

Thanks! I like 'em the more I look at 'em.

I'm thinking of selling the old wheels - but I told the tow truck guy he could have first shot at them. I'll let you know if he doesn't want them.

That tire size is just right, it's what I have on mine and is close match (diam) to stock.

There are 5 slot mags on Ebay all the time I think those are what glindley actually wants.
I am still also looking at wider steel wheels for the Uni I like what I have on it I just want wider ones if I stay with them.
There is an article on the net about a guy who made his own wider steels I will have to take some measurements to see if it will work with truck wheels though, his were for his 66 Fairlane.

I'd say I like slotted wheels, but someone might say :barf: (jk).

wheels

Post by jeffw »

hey those wheels look great,, it's very true that a good set of wheels give a truck character,, sets em apart and improves the groove of the truck,, nice upgrade... cheak these out, they are 15/10s and fit perfectly all around.. [albumimg]2100[/albumimg]

That wheel and tire combo looks good on your truck. Call me Old Fashioned, but I like that set up better than the oversized rims on rubber bands for tires. The raised white letters add to the look. I get comments on my rims and tires often.

Mark.

Thanks, Jeff! I wish I knew the color. It was originally Holly Green. Now it's dark red with black interior and red seat. It's close to the red on my '87 Tbird - maybe a little darker. I know that's not much help...

Thanks, Mark! I'm liking it more and more every day. And now I'm really glad I went with the white letters. Amen on the over-sized rims!

WARNING!!!! STAY AWAY FROM STOCKTON WHEEL!!!
Or take your chances. You've been warned. I was lucky I got my money back from them, but after my ordeal, I learned there are dozens of other people that got ripped off by them. Run, don't walk away from them. They make Rod Doors look like saints! :D
My Slick is rustier than your Slick! :D
