It appears to have started as a '59 Coronet, the last year of full-size Coronet production. They were "dressed down" Desotos, probably to use up any remaining parts from the soon-to-be-defunct Desotos. I believe a few 392's were found in the police packages.foodstick wrote:Ok, I gotta ask, what is the front of that thing? did it start as a car?
Funny how things change.Toyz wrote: If someone had said that vehicle would be considered "cool" in 2013, he would have been laughed off the school yard!

When the SVO first hit the local dealerships, no dealer was willing to offer much of a discount. I told several that I could buy a heavily discounted Mark VII for the same money; and I didn't feel that many people would pay a heavy premium over a Mustang GT for a four cylinder Pinto engined vehicle, no matter how well it performed. None offered much of a rebuttal to my statement, nor did they offer a significant discount, until much later.Greg D wrote:Funny how things change.Toyz wrote: If someone had said that vehicle would be considered "cool" in 2013, he would have been laughed off the school yard!

I remember a dealer offering me a NEW 2 year old SVO Stang for less than 1/2 of sticker.
They about couldn't give it away...........now it would be worth more than it was new if nice enough.
With the resurgence of old school customs all sorts of non typical stuff is coming out of the woodwork.
I think it's awesome!
