Power Steering??

Post by Anthony's Son »

Hey guys my old truck is getting the whole front end redone out of my income taxes, and I'm wondering what steering box I need to make it power steering. I am having new kingpins, tie rods, drag link, and steering box put on it. It is getting a new heart also: 302 out of a 76 Ford Granada and a C6 out of an 88 model f-250. I'm trying to make it easier to drive, and hopefully better than 13 mpg... Haha

from what i understand, the 79-83 toyota 4x4 power steering box is the way to go on a 61-64 straight axle truck.

go with a C4 trans... they rob less power from the engine and are plenty strong 1970 and up C4 from what i have read is the better ones to find

I drive my truck everyday about 70 miles a day, not counting my extra running on my days off. It equals out to about 1,000 miles every 2 weeks. 13 mpg is really hurtin' right now with only having a part time job. Thank you for the information on the steering box btw, I will look into that.
