What is the going price on a set of FE exhaust manifolds?
I want to replace mine when I do the exhaust install, they leak and make alot of noise.
There is a nice set on eaby right now, surfaced and blasted, the bid is up to $61.
I would really like to pull the heads remove the manifolds and to paint and regasket the entire engine, but Im afraid that I will find problems once the heads are off and end up doing a rebuild.

Re: Exhaust manifolds
not sure on prices but the biggest issue in removing fe exhaust manifolds is the top bolts breaking off in the head.
2 things i like to do installing fe manifolds is make sure the top bolts do not protrude out the backside of the threads and use plenty of anti-seize on them.

Re: Exhaust manifolds
If you soak the bolts with a good penetrating fluid for a few days that should help. maybe try to tighten them slightly before removing them to break the bond.
I sent you a pm on the exhaust manifolds.

Re: Exhaust manifolds
done some of these in the past...
three things required..penetrating oil..some heat apllied(torches)...alot of patience
how i used to do them was apply heat, try to move them,if they dont ,spray penetrating oil while hot,and it will draw itself into the threads..be careful doing this cause sometimes the penetrating can catch fire, not usually, but it will definitely smoke like crazy...this is where the patience comes in...go to the next one and try again....repeat...repeat...then put everything away and come back tomm and try again
i have only broken a couple doing it this way....just remember patience and dont rush the job...hope it works out for you

Re: Exhaust manifolds
I have a nice set of manifolds that came off my 352. New Mexico truck so they are very clean. I'm certainly never going to use them. I even have the flapper thingie but the butterfly has been removed. PM me if interested.
