It's been a while but we have made more progress. We bed lined the entire bottom of the truck today, that means all the structure work is done so now we can focus on the body work. So here are a couple of pictures.

This is the system we used. It also comes in a tintable form which I have used and it works pretty good.

Well it's been a little while but we have made some more progress. Been doing some small parts prep in the blast cabinet. we installed the seats and the console so we could begin to figure out how to mount it. after much discussion and looking at a picture of a custom built console we decided the console in the picture is not going to be installed and we are going to design and build one ourselves.

Image Image

The dash is going to be completely filled in and smoothed and the door openings are getting filled and smoothed too. I'll post some pictures of that process in the next day or two. We made patterns for the kick panels and made some more decisions on the rest of the interior.

Ok here we go again. I'm starting the seam filling process and we are doing it old school. I'm filling the seams with bronze then I will "lead" over them. The reasoning is, filling the seams with bronze stabilizes the seam and the reason for "leading" over them is two fold. First, primer and paint doesn't stick very well to bronze. Second, it's easier to shape lead and it provides a very good surface for primer and paint. I'm smoothing the door openings too.

And the rear vertical seam at the rear of the truck.

More to come soon.

We got a little more done today. Started filing in the glove box, ash tray and the hacked up radio mount hole.

Just an update. I've got some of the work done to fill the seams. This is the first step in making the truck seamless. I may be a little overboard with this but it's my idea of what the truck needs to look like to be truly seamless. The process is about half done. I'll add more pictures soon to show each step in the process.

Progress should move a little faster now as the weather gets worse and I spend more time in the shop.

Did a test last night leading the lower cab seam at the door opening to check out how the radius will look. Rob is coming by today to check it out before we continue. Here's what it looks like.

The door jams are going to seamless too and blend onto the dash.

We considered doing that but decided against it because there is no damage in that area, in fact other than the floor boards there wasn't any major rust or damage any where else.

More progress. Got the seams on the back of the cab done and the smoothed firewall in primer today. Beginning to take shape.

ImageImageImageImageImage

The cab corner pictures shows it Brazed and the filler neck opening filled, ground ready to be tinned then shows it tinned then shows it leaded. So we are moving right along and hope to have the body back on the chassis for good right after Christmas. I am thinking of making a video of the leading process I use when I do the end cap seam. It won't be too much longer till we start on modifying the doors for the single glass install. If I have good luck with the leading video I may do one of the door mod to.
